Veronica8 He's joking. He meant that all the other contracted authors pretend that they have beeen paid in a manner so convincing that they are gifted actors.
Kind of like "the other contracted authors tell me that they get paid too, but if they are pretending/lying about it then they are acting so convincingly that I couldn't tell that it was a lie."
