There are a couple of hidden gems that I've found in the Trial Read section, however, life seems to be playing tricks on me as they are almost always not getting picked. My suggestion is for there to be a goal function in the Trial Reads section. The purpose of the 'Goal' function is that, for a novel to get picked, they need to reach a goal first. As for what the goals are, I have a few suggestions: Number of PowerStones and overall chapters that are unlocked. I know, I know; if people could use Powerstones, it will just get abused. Fret not! I have a solution for that as well. WN just needs to limit the number of times that a user could vote powerstones into a novel that is in the Trial Reads section, so let's say 1 is the overall limit. To see the goal, a progress bar will obviously need to be added. As for the goals itself; I don't know the statistics of readers going into the Trial Reads section and actually reading a book, so let's just set 150PS and 3,000 as the goal for now.
So we need like what, 100 people needed for the 3,000 unlocked chapters and 150 people for the PS? Obviously, this suggestion isn't flawless. People could make alt accounts and vote their powerstones on a certain novel, and use their FP on said novel. But... it wouldn't hurt to try, right?

I know I'm not making sense, so here's a poorly edited picture of what it's supposed to be like (UC stands for Unlocked Chapters whereas PS stands for PowerStones):

As far as I know this already exists, it just isnt visible.

Stories are dropped if there arent enough coins spent on them, or at least thats what the rumors say.

Hence best to always unlock trial reads with coins and not free passes.

Kronoos You vote with your wallet, simple as that. Whatever gets more people using Paid Coins to unlock chapters is profitable, and Webnovel will obviously pick that. Why make it so complicated?

RABBITICOL For transparency. If they implemented a progress bar, at least readers will know that the novel they devoted their time for won't get picked if they saw the progress bar. It's... much less painful that way, you know? When you see the progress bar is low, you will know that it might get dropped, so you go on and start to accept it. Instead of having it suddenly get taken off. If a progress bar isn't possible, a notification would be fine as well. Like notifying a user that the book he reads in the Trial Reads section will get dropped if the current result doesn't meet the requirements.

RABBITICOL except that doesn't seem to be the proper metric either. It seems that they're using a coins per week/day metric. But they should make that more transparent as well.

KoraL Why not... just make it like a ranking then? Here's an example:

            Trial Reads

            Ending in: 2:23:59

            *🥇 Plague Doctor [999Coins]

            *🥈 Ultimate Fantasy World [888Coins]

            *🥉 The Mighty Pheasant [777Coins]

            *4. Peerless Genius System [666Coins]

            ↓Ineligible to get picked↓

            *5. Insert novel name [302Coins]

            *6. Insert novel name [241Coins]

            (i) When the timer ends and the novel you chose to support is still within the top four, it passes the requirements and will continue to be translated. If a novel somehow overtook the number four spot in the last second, it will be considered as a tie. If a tie happens, the results of both of the novels will be monitored. The monitoring phase will span for a day, and if the results of one of the two novels is higher than the other, that novel will get picked and will continue to be translated.

            Edit:Fuck, I'm over complicating things again, aren't I?

Kronoos I don't think I was being clear enough. I meant that the metric they seem to be using is an average daily coins spent instead of total coins spent which complicates matters. But I imagine if Webnovel were as transparent about anything as you are currently suggesting, a lot fewer people would think poorly of them.

KoraL Indeed. Calculating the results via the daily coins spent complicates it. But... maybe it's because they're not calculating the overall spent coins, instead they calculate the popularity of the novel. They're not calculating the popularity by the amount of views, but the amount of coins that is spent each day on that particular novel. For example: Let's say that the Plague Doctor got 500 coins today, and the next day, it got 400 coins, the day after that, it's 450 coins. It's somewhat stable, so it has the eligibility to get picked. Now let's say that the novel 'Ultimate Fantasy World' got 300 coins today, 100 coins the next day, and 150 coins the day after that. It's fluctuating, which correlates to the lack of interest of readers, therefore it doesn't have the eligibility to get picked.

                Truly brilliant!

If they really are doing it like that, it not only rakes in profit, they also satisfy the majority of the readers (albeit not all). Alas, these are merely theories that I came up with.
