Well, I Create this Discussion just to vent my Frustration. also, My Grammar isn't that great just in case someone point that out.

Well, Today, I'm bored and Browsed Throughout the while genres or tags available here in this Site and man, I saw something very Disgusting. for me it's disgusting. For every book I Visited, I saw some honest Reviews, Exp Reviews Or just some trolls. Especially At the books created by Rookies ( Just like me ).

My Frustration Escalated when I saw these Guys who wrote reviews To different novels which is newly created. As a new author, They Will surely be lacking in some Aspects but man, You Shouldn't Complain here and there. It's easy to read and complain than create a Creative Chapter or book, I'll say.

I, Myself, Experienced this. I created a Fanfic once to Fulfill my desires which I didn't Found on the other novels but some guys just kept on Pushing their Ideologies. I mean, man this is a Fanfic.

Next, I saw a book just now And I'm very disappointed. Readers argued here and There complaining how Trashy and Uninteresting this novel was. My heart almost leap out in anger when I saw their Comments. They didn't even considered the feelings of this Authors who Tried their hardest just to " Please " your Eyes and Brain. these guys Is just Disgusting. If you didn't like the novel then go away! No one is forcing you to Read all of the chapters! Calling a book Just because it didn't please you, hah! You have my middle finger.

Please, A honest Review, A criticism that might help the author Improve by Pointing the Flaws Are highly appreciated by Rookies like us but Calling Trash just Because You didn't Like it, Sigh

You just gotta ignore it. Let me share my experience. In the very beginning of my chapters, I made sure that the readers know of my MCs character. So, if they don't like him, they could very well drop it. I mean, I can't force someone to read what they don't like right. But, some people despite hating it, keeps on reading and cursing and even post reviews.

But that is it. You gotta ignore it.

I'm a translator and I feel the same (but for different reasons.)

I can accept that they gave the book bad reviews if they dislike the plot, the character design, and whatnot because those are beyond my control. And as ReincarnatedSaint said, we can't force others to read what they don't like. For example, if you gave the 1 star after reading up to 40 chaps (heck, even 30 chaps) because you don't like the MC's personality, I'm willing to accept that and move on.

What I cannot accept is that they came over and review bombed the book just because the book they like did not get picked for continuation to be translated. They did not even give the book a chance (as in they posted a review with only a few chapters read (C1~3)/ none have been read at all (C0).)

It's demotivating and like you, making me angry to some degree.

    BUT,

When I looked at the people that actually like the book in the review and those that supported it with coins, I felt like I drank a potion and have some of my hp restored. Then there's some that's like "hate the book, but the TL is great." Also the ones that are only there for the XP.

It's a mixed bag, but ultimately I have decided to just ignore the ones that went berserk and keep the nice ones close to my heart.

Well I gotta tell you that "dissing" and "constructive criticism" are two different things. I bet the most of us already know their differences. I have two things to point out tho.

    1. There are readers who give reviews in a way that they are not paying attention to the novel at all. And if they didn't like the idea of the author and the plot, there would be a tendency that they'll flood you with low ratings and hate comments. I experienced that and it feels like shit and it makes me lose my motivation on my writing. Either they'd tell you that your story is trash or it's too (insert negative adjective) without stating a good reason at all.

    2. There are also readers who give reviews positively but apparently they're just doing it for swap reviews and five star ratings. Most of those authors would delete the low ratings and critical reviews about their work for the sake of being featured on the app's homepage.

But hey, I wanna tell you that you shouldn't focus on those negative people and just keep on writing. Writing is a writer's coping mechanism. It's art. And art is a vessel for a person to express his or her emotions and thoughts. Just keep writing and shake it off.

I got a 1.5 star review on chp 0 with something like "I'm bored gonna have chicken soup." 🙄

I'm like, "Ok. Sorry to bore, pass some of that soup to poor starving author."

I have had that experience too. I got reviews on my book that can barely be called 'reviews'.
It was like - "I'm bored and you should stop writing" (Reading Status: C0)
Like wtf? That is one sentence. It would make sense if that was a comment but how is that a review?
But man, as everyone else has already said, you have to ignore stuff like that. At the end of the day, you can't expect every person to be understanding of other's feelings. You just have to realize the insignificance of the haters' words and let it slide.

The intuitive author can have to do seven or more edits and most often the intuitive writer has popularity over the rest. Good to read an intuitive and inspiring post.

Some peeps don't even care for the story when they post a review. They don't even know the title of the story they're posting the review to. It's just a moment for exp. With a book plucked at random.
