I was reading Soul Land IV (Douluo Dalu) : Ultimate Fighting and it was dropped despite the fact it seemed quite popular and the translators at the time said this was a revenue issue and I feel that a big reason for this is cause most readers were waiting for the prequel of Douluo Dalu 4 to finish Legend of the Dragon King which has finished recently and cause fast passes can be used to keep up with the latest releases.
I noticed that other great novels have also been dropped before they really had the chance to get going and feel the fast passes are big reason for this as just the daily passes are enough for you to read new released chapters for most novels so people aren't paying to read the newest chapters.
So I think implementing a limit on the number of times you can use a fast pass on specific novels based on their release rate is a good idea or make it so fast passes can not be used on new release chapters till a week or so after they were posted. This will mean that if people want to read the chapters as soon as possible they have to use coins and fast passes can only be used on older chapters.
I also think it would be a good idea not to drop novels completely from what I know webnovel owns the licences for the novels they drop still meaning new translator groups can't take up the drop novels. I think it would be a good idea instead of completely dropping a novel to still release chapters, but at a reduced pace so instead of daily it increases to weekly chapters. This should keep people interested in the novel as people are less likely to pick up a novel they are aware has been dropped, but more likely to pick it up as long as there are still chapters being released for it. This method would also allow webnovel to observe the novels sales and it can change and increase the release dates based on it allowing dropped novels to make a come back.
I know that most translators work on specific novels, but if they could manage to do even one chapter of a dropped novel weekly it would help keep the novel alive and depending on the revenue once a translator has finish their current project they could switch back to the previously dropped novel instead of starting a new one.
