Hi

I have read in some forums the disadvantages of the Royalty Contract which bothers me now. I also have read on the WN website the clauses under Royalty contract, that I need to write at least 1.5k per day for 4 months to get paid. Is that true? Because if that's true, I will not choose the Royalty contract, because I can't immediately think of a scenario to write everyday. Please help me decide.

    If I may ask, I got a contract from this platform, and I'm a bit scared to sign since it's all written in these complicated juridique terms. have you been in a contract with the "Webnovel" platform, and what is its advantages and disadvantages

      First, if you are under royalty contract...if you don't need money...you do't need to comply the 1.5k words requirement to upload daily. You can upload anytime you want.

      Second, if you really need money and you think $200 per month ( for four months only) can help you greatly then by all means upload 1.5k words daily straight for 4 months.

      That is actually the only two choices you have... some contracted author upload chapters irregularly because they are busy with their personal life...but do take note...if you are only uploading few chapters per month or week and your novel is not famous...then you will be earning cents only... the salary will only be release if you accumulate $200...if not then you will have to wait for many months before your earnings will get that $200 threshold.

      So if you want to be contracted... and you don't need money for your daily needs then you don't have to update regularly...but if you want that $200...then upload 1.5 daily for four months and you will get ( $200x 4 months).

      Take note also that some author missed even 1 day upload or missed 100 words...they no longer earn the $200.

      Lastly...don't expect much when it comes to earning...because only TOP 200 in the ranking in this sites earns money in their novels and the rest are on the bottom line as in... earning cents on their novels...

      Now...why I'm telling you this is because...I want you not to raise your hopes too high or else you will only get disappointed. Many first time authors are very happy when they got contracted ....but after the first month and they lose the $200 chance and see only cents in their income tab...they lose desire to continue novels and some abandoned their novels and stopped writing... because of disappointment.

      I suggest that you write not for money so that you don't get disappointed easily.
      But if you are lucky and you have a good novel and you will shoot to the top of the ranking...your future is bright here in novel.

      There are three income hierarchy in Webnovel...( Based on my opinion...don't shoot me...hehehe...I'm using freedom of speech here...lol)

      1.) Top 50 up to Top 1~ are the ones earning nice money.

      2.) Top 51 up to Top 200...are in the middle...their earning probably below $1k. ( just my rough estimate, I could be wrong!)

      3.) And the bottom Authors who's novel can't even reached the Top 200....they are the ones earning start from cents...$1...$50...$100...$200 monthly and so on...

          Im a new contracted author here and I want to know if i can still recieve USD even i didn't start the first day of that month? I mean im updating my novel daily.

          Example: some of the editor of a webnovel that i talked she said that i should update my chapters daily with no breaks for a month and i can recieve a 200 USD so in my situation:

          I've started to write story since nov 3 (tuesday-1st week) and I wondered if i will going to receive USD at dec 3? Please enlighten me😔

            EunoiaPryn Getting MGS (minimum guarantee system) can only be done when your novel is premium/locked.
            Also, it'll start the second month after you lock the chapter.
            Example:
            You go premium on April.
            In that case, MGS will start on May and in the month May (for 31 days), you have to update daily 1.5k words without any break if you want to earn $200
            (If your novel earn more then you do not need to worry about MGS tbh)

                    Sorahana so I'm not going to receive the 200USD next month, 'cuz the MGS will go to start in dec? So it's fine if I'm not updating my novel daily instead I'll be starting on dec in updating it with no breaks? I mean this month I will update 2-3 chaps per week and since the MSG will start in Dec (31 days) I should start too, to updating daily to earn.

                                EunoiaPryn MGS is only 4 months. It didn't mean you stop earning but it'll depends on your readers.
                                Also, if you earn more than MGS, you don't need to worry about it.
                                There are already more forum post that explained everything in details. All you need to do is dig a little bit if you want more explanation.

I mean now in November I'm going to rest from being an author for a while 'cuz my schedule is so tight and I can't handle it anymore :< So what my point Is if it's fine if I'm not going to update 2-3 chaps per week instead continue it in December, it's ok tho?

                                        EunoiaPryn you should contact your CE first and ask her/him that you wanted to go premium before the end of november. Otherwise you'll have to wait for a month again. Your CE will give you a form to fill up for that.

                                            If this website operates like any websites where trafic is created by user generated content, it means whatever you are creating for this website is not your intellectual property.
                                            Basically, once you upload it's not your own, and they can do whatever they want with it without your say or you profiting.
