SleepFox If they really did care they wouldn't be doing this. What I wrote was just expressing my anger

CKtalon I suddenly remembered someone's words:
"Qidian doesn't plan on having a paywall.
Qidian has been inviting translators to translate for them, with rather enticing offers. They are legitimizing what we did which was very likely illegal.
Qidian is keeping to the current monetization model WW is using.
In the event, Qidian sets up a paywall, they will be betraying me as well, and make me seem like a fool here. When that happens, I'll definitely have to apologize for me being stupid and 'signing a contract with the devil'"

Do you remember who said it? I believe that it was one seemingly honest, but stupid guy, who's working as devil's advocate now 😥

Anyway, this new trial reads system turned me for better, because I completely lost interest in reading bits and scraps of the mostly trash novels, so I won't waste my time there anymore

      Dwarkin

Oh yeah, I remember that. I started reading on Ww way before a lot of people. I think I stumbled back onto it back when the only books were like tdg and coiling (and a couple others)

TDG, tales of Demons and Gods, was probably one of the only harem novels that I actually enjoyed.

AuHNG I started to read ranobe on baka-tsuki, later found the website with the translation of LMS (the one before royal road) and somehow transitioned to IET's and Er Gen's novels. Good old times when we had to wait for a weeks between the new chapters. You could read every single Korean and Chinese fantasy novels that was translated at that time 😂

          Tencent strikes again.

Dwarkin Not having a paywall in 2017. Please check the context. I did mention that I didn't know what would happen in the future. Everything was in the context of then. Things change. I also placed a disclaimer that things WOULD change.

CKtalon yeah, yeah. But still, you are a great "old school" translator, despite working for "devil" 😁

Dwarkin Are you talking about Japtem? I loved thier translation of LMS and was really sad when they stopped because of commenters sending readers to MTL.
There was another group before that one, but they only had a small handful of chapters (I think 15 or so with 12 being the free licensed translation).

KoraL Yeah, how did you even remember them? 😂 Damn, we (readers) were so miserable, because at one point we only had chapter summaries to read 😥

Dwarkin Thanks for that emotional trip back in time 🙂

It's always nice to see people who where active during LMS and early WW times.

Dwarkin I remember them because I was so upset when they stopped their translation. I loved LMS, but I couldn't bear to touch the MTL, so I stopped reading it for 3 years afterwards.... I've only recently learned to suffer through MTL, and it depresses me how far my standards have fallen.
As for the other group before them, I had actually started LMS with them. Not sure how I found them, but I do know my first CN was Half Prince by Yu Wo. Hmmm... I should check if that translation team is still around...

Edit: Oh wow. Prince Revolution is still alive. And while I'm at it, so is Girafffe Corps! It's going to be decades before I ever see the end of those novels...
And after more effort to find than I thought it would take, the original group that translated LMS, Odd Squad, is defunct. In fact, they've probably been gone for several years at this point.

KoraL Same. I struggled with LMS till the volume where he became a pirate captain or something like that, and dropped it. I really want to start reading it again, but I already forgot most of the plot, and too I'm too lazy to reread it again
