This is just to much greediness man! How could you make us pay after only 20 chapters? Would this became normal in the future, just like how 40 free chapters became normal? I miss those days where we can read at least a hundred chapter before it becomes premium. We are not even asking for that anymore, all we want is some consistency. We hope you still have some conscience to hear our concerns.
Petition to bring back 60 trial chapters and 40 free to read chapters
At least there are still people who won't sit back and watch these greedy people. After all everyone has a limit to how much they can take.

You really think that they care about our opinions -_-, I still remember the time, when the spirit stones were exchanged, there was a lot more confusion, but still it didn't help.
Tardy_Cat I've noticed the chapters are very short, too! I'm not paying to read something that's poorly written to start with, repeats the end of one chapter at the beginning of the next, and then is so short that it literally takes just a few minutes to read it. Sad... I think I really wanted to finish this book - even though the grammar, sentence structure, and other errors made me cringe.
Getting to the point where Iād rather just abandon these stories and go back to reading free fanfiction. This habit is getting too expensive.

Read the note:
From 18 Dec 2020, there will be only 40 chapters for Trial Read, with Chapters 20 to 40 locked.
After a book is picked, Chapters 20-39 will have the locks automatically removed. Chapters 1-39 will become free to read, with Chapter 40 remaining a Premium chapter.
Coins spent on all books during Trial Read will all be refunded within 30 days. However, Fast Passes will not be refunded.
If a book is continued, the 19 chapter's worth of Coins will be refunded, i.e., 1-39 will be free again when continued, and 40 onwards will be paid, just like now.
Likewise, if the book isn't continued, the Coins will be refunded. So either way, it's an investment you are putting in to get the book continued, which will get refunded to you regardless.
SleepFox I know they don't care which is what makes it even more annoying
SleepFox If they really did care they wouldn't be doing this. What I wrote was just expressing my anger
CKtalon I suddenly remembered someone's words:
"Qidian doesn't plan on having a paywall.
Qidian has been inviting translators to translate for them, with rather enticing offers. They are legitimizing what we did which was very likely illegal.
Qidian is keeping to the current monetization model WW is using.
In the event, Qidian sets up a paywall, they will be betraying me as well, and make me seem like a fool here. When that happens, I'll definitely have to apologize for me being stupid and 'signing a contract with the devil'"
Do you remember who said it? I believe that it was one seemingly honest, but stupid guy, who's working as devil's advocate now
Anyway, this new trial reads system turned me for better, because I completely lost interest in reading bits and scraps of the mostly trash novels, so I won't waste my time there anymore
AuHNG I started to read ranobe on baka-tsuki, later found the website with the translation of LMS (the one before royal road) and somehow transitioned to IET's and Er Gen's novels. Good old times when we had to wait for a weeks between the new chapters. You could read every single Korean and Chinese fantasy novels that was translated at that time
Tencent strikes again.
Dwarkin Are you talking about Japtem? I loved thier translation of LMS and was really sad when they stopped because of commenters sending readers to MTL.
There was another group before that one, but they only had a small handful of chapters (I think 15 or so with 12 being the free licensed translation).
Tardy_Cat some didn't even give 5 free chapters
Dwarkin Thanks for that emotional trip back in time
It's always nice to see people who where active during LMS and early WW times.

Dwarkin I remember them because I was so upset when they stopped their translation. I loved LMS, but I couldn't bear to touch the MTL, so I stopped reading it for 3 years afterwards.... I've only recently learned to suffer through MTL, and it depresses me how far my standards have fallen.
As for the other group before them, I had actually started LMS with them. Not sure how I found them, but I do know my first CN was Half Prince by Yu Wo. Hmmm... I should check if that translation team is still around...
Edit: Oh wow. Prince Revolution is still alive. And while I'm at it, so is Girafffe Corps! It's going to be decades before I ever see the end of those novels...
And after more effort to find than I thought it would take, the original group that translated LMS, Odd Squad, is defunct. In fact, they've probably been gone for several years at this point.
