Have you tried any of Er Gen's books? I Shall Seal The Heavens(finished) was pretty good but I'm liking A Will Eternal (being translated) even more.

History's Strongest Senior Brother uses knowledge from a past life to become OP but it's still a very good story. The Desolate Era uses a minor technique to improve his soul and get a headstart but it becomes irrelevant. Nothing really unique about it but still a good read overall.

The Cacooned Cow novels, Martial World and True Martial World, use a soul and energy cheat respectively but their uses are very minimal.

Otherworldly Evil Monarch, in my opinion, is a really good story. The MC does get progressively stronger because of a cheat but there is more focus on the world of the MC rather than the MC himself which makes this so unique. Ze Tian Ji is also one of my favourite stories however people get turned off by how long it takes the MC to actually start cultivating (due to an illness that becomes very relevant). It's a breath of fresh air and I recommend you read it if you can bear an MC that goes about with only his head for about 150 chapters.

Cultivation Chat Group follows the life of a modern student who accidentally stumbles into a chat group of immortals. His cultivation life begins and we see how he adapts his modern way of life into cultivation (a popular example being how he uses a rice cooker as a pill cauldron). The story itself is fairly light-hearted (not slapstick like LOHP) but also a read I'd recommend.

Pivot of the Sky is more about unravelling the truth of how the current cultivation system came to be and how the MC practices the original cultivation system as it was supposed to be. It's only on like chapter 88 or something but I think the story will go a lot deeper. Personally, I'd hold off reading it until it lives up to its expectations because you might lose interest in it whilst it's being translated.

        My bad my bad, by cultivation novel I thought you meant 'typical xianxia' as a genre i.e. set in a world of sects then MC ascends etc.
        Remember to look at the 'CN' section of my reading list. Although I don't keep up with some of them, they still have some pretty good (or trashy) novels e.g. World of Cultivation and TTNH.

                                Have you read 'Heaven's Shadow/Tian Ying'? It's the best Xianxia novel I have ever read! It's a very immersive novel, has a ruthless yet good protagonist.

                                If you want an Ice Cold protagonist read 'Reverend Insanity', the novel also has a unique power system and it's an excellent novel too.

                                Er Gen's novels are also very good.

                                I'm yet to read 'A record of Mortal's journey to immortality', 'Ze Tian Ji', 'Pivot of the sky', 'Legend of the Cultivation' 'God', 'WoC', and 'Grasping Evil' but they all come with a lot of recommendations

                                  SilentMist seeing as you like woc i would recommend Avalon of five elements. It's by the same author and it is set in the same world.

                                        SilentMist It's dropped but it's a great novel though which I thought you should read. So whatever has been translated deals with spy/undercover agent story in a Xianxia backdrop.

                                            Do you have an NU list? If you do, it would be a lot easier to see what you have already read, and what can be recommended.

                                              I'm sure you know this, but Er Gen's earlier work "Pursuit of Truth" is on Qidian right now and worth a read. Other than that "Portal to Wonderland" and "Demon's Diary" are decent stories and worth giving a chance if you haven't already, though their update frequency is slower than most of the big name tickets. Both are written by the same author and are good, steady reads. While the author of these two novels doesn't use humor the way the Er Gen and Fang Xiang do, and his antagonists are underdeveloped, his world building, MC, and pacing are definitely up to par with those two masters. I'm also just getting into "Divine Throne of Primordial Blood" and though the story is still young in its translation, the MC starts out blind and is currently being suppressed by the nobles of the world left and right, forcing him to use his smarts to outwit them, so no unreasonably OP level MC just yet. Only drawback is that its only 6 chapters a week, but that also makes it easier to pick-up/catch-up.
