8ne Honestly I don't care about WN new system at all save for the one reason you just addressed. According to the translator of Pursuit of Truth, word from high up was it was popular enough to be hidden behind the new pay wall. Fine, I sure don't like it, but I ain't gonna hold it against a company trying to make money, and definitely not against the translator. So long as I waited for the chapters to be released later at the cost of one of those daily tickets I was okay with it, but we are now less than 30 chapters away from the completion of the novel and a week has passed with no new releases. I like to do things the legal way, so I'll wait a few more weeks but if WN doesn't at least let me use my daily tickets to get through the last few I will find it elsewhere, and I'll probably be able to because Qidian set the precedent of free chapters and then slowly rolled that back. What I think they didn't understand about western audiences is that would do nothing but u push the majority of us away. I won't do it, but I'm positive this move has pissed someone, somewhere off enough to just pay the 8 bucks for the first month, copy and paste EVERYTHING and then upload it to a bunch of websites. I'll just find that guys work. As per usual the true victims are the translators. The more popular your novel gets, the more microtransaction BS is thrown in your work, the more readers start to turn on you. Other than Pursuit of Truth I only really read one other novel on WN consistently, so in the end I don't really care if WN wants to burn itself to the ground, but I will not be returning once those two are done for sure.

75% sure answer of no
Got the sequel of Unrivaled Tang Sect here. You can also get that on WuxiaWorld though.Just posted chapter 30. I think at this point if you want to keep reading you can follow the story on Webnovel so I won't post here every time I upload a chapter anymore, but I will still follow the thread and respond should anyone want to ask a question here or anything else they want to say. If you are still following the story, thank you!
LetThereBeMagic I gotta agree with this statement. I like to think about my replies to people and write long-form responses of multiple sentences. Discord does not lend itself to this format. By the time I have finished writing what I want to say ten other people have already replied and taken the conversation in a different direction. Chat is great for sending quick communications and one liners, but it is hard to have a real conversation in a live chat group.
Trako A good way to do that would be to have two character's go back and forth for an extended period and have someone interrupt later on to allow the story to flow more. Example:
X said, "..."
Y replied, "..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"..."
Z interjected "Alright you two, let's not argue, what if we ...?"
"I concur," A agreed.
Something like that.Newbelist Far as I can tell there is no genre or culture restriction.

Ave_Anderson I'm the same way. I post when I can and have about 10 loyal readers, probably less. That's fine as far as I can see. You won't make much (no) money off of it short term. Profits will probably stay the same in the long term, but I believe that the quality of these stories that pump out two chapters a day are absolute shite. Better to send out one 1500 word chapter with multiple rough drafts where each word is meticulously chosen every three days than to pump out two 2500 word chapters with excessive repetition and boring cliches every day. My advice, go for it. You may not be popular like some of the writers who pump out chapters like machines, but if you put the care in making your novel a truly good read you will get a few people willing to wait for you. Plus, it is always something you can use as a means to break into traditionally published writing as part of your portfolio.
Been living here for 8 months now and I gotta say it's not a bad place to live. I cannot speak the language, but I have picked up a few key phrases and can count to 100 which is really all you need (learning the hand signals for 6-10 here is key). I live in Shanghai, which is way safer than any city in America IMO (I am from the D.C. area). The people are more or less nice to you. Sure, you may get a few evil-eye stares from the old men who were probably early members of the red army, and there are a ton of scams trying to rip foreigners off if you are not careful, but most people are indifferent to you or find you interesting and want to practice English with you. The food is great, but I only trust the food vendors when the outside is cold enough to keep their ingredients from spoiling, otherwise eat somewhere clean and indoors. There are a lot of nice places to visit and the country has something for everyone. Definitely visit it at least once, if only for the experience.
Sitting pretty at 178. Come at me people!
Finally put up a new one. Check it out on Webnovel or the Wordpress page if you feel so inclined. Thank you for reading!

ThousandHeavens You should always challenge yourself to try and understand things you don't. That is how you become smarter and mature. If you don't get it, ask questions. People like to tell others what they think and why; everyone wants to teach what they know.
Edgaaaar You are now my favorite person in the whole wide world. Thank you so much! It looks awesome. I will put it up right now.
Getting close to the new chapters soon. The first one will be introducing a new character. Remember when I mentioned hiding a song name in chapter 21? Anyone who can find it and post the name on the comment section of that chapter on Webnovel gets to help me name the new character! I hope to have my first new chapter up by next week, so not a lot of time left!
CKtalon Fixed is not the word I would use, but that does answer my question definitively. Thank you for your response.
Indiboy What is the means of profit from this business tactic?
Olivia The servers have always been in China, but this message only recently appeared.
LetThereBeMagic That seems far fetched. I posted on here for the express purpose of seeing what QI has to say about it.
@WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL do you have any idea why your website is not available in the country it is from? Sorry if I am coming off as snarky, but I really am curious and frustrated about this.- Edited
I have been living in China for the past eight months and every morning when I get on the Shanghai metro I open up my phone and read a few chapters on my way to work. About a week ago I opened up Webnovel.com to find a message saying, "Sorry, our service is not available in your country/region yet." Your service sure was available last month, so why the change? Also, why is it that this website's country of origin cannot host this website? If the servers for the site are in China shouldn't China be able to use the site? The only way I can access any of this site now is if I use my laptop and turn on my VPN to connect to the USA. I have a VPN for my phone too, but it is useless when trying to get on Webnovel.com. Seriously, can anyone explain this to me?
[unknown] They are on the main site for Qidian/Webnovel. I don't know much about publishing on Amazon, but with Qidian your work is more likely to be seen by an avid reader base with an established community centered around the genre you write in. In addition, you can publish chapter by chapter at your own pace so it is a great way for amateurs to get their work out there and noticed.
[unknown] You're absolutely right none of us will see a dime, but many of us wouldn't be able to get our stories into the hands of enough readers to make a profit without a platform like this. What Qidian is offering is a place to get noticed. I write my story on Wordpress, but I get one to three people tops visiting the site every day I post something new. I took the first few chapters from Wordpress and posted them on Webnovel, and I am already noticing more people are reading and commenting on this platform. I for one wasn't looking to make a profit off of my writing yet anyways. I don't think I'm a bad writer, but I'm no F. Scott Fitzgerald either. The way I see it, I can use Qidian as a means to hone my skill, garner a reader base, and receive feedback from them. The terms of service also say that you still own the rights to anything you create. They can use what you write freely, but so can you. In the end, if you are truly worried about Qidian will do with you intellectual property, you can just stop posting on this site towards the end when you have enough readers and tell them to go to another site to get the rest of the story; Qidian can't monetize an unfinished product right? Personally, I don't think I will pull a stunt like that, but I will continue to post on my Wordpress page.
[unknown] I had trouble with this at first too. Once you have a chapter up in that volume, go to the publish section of inkstone. Each volume should be listed with all of their chapters. There should be a grayed out 'edit' next to the volume title; hovering over it should turn it red. Click that and you can change your volume titles.

xhuer I want them to know what I want, but I will take what I get and be happy with it. Otherwise, the best I can do on my own is stick figures :/
Side note: Why is the placeholder for novels without covers so ugly?
whe I am particular.
