So I've been seeing newbies asking how to enter contests on webnovel again and again in the review swap, spirity contest and shameless promotion threads, so I thought I should create a thread to answer this question and help newbies out.

PLEASE NOTE.
You can only enter your book in a contest at the point of creation of the book: The very beginning stage when you create your book; input book title, synopsis, genres, tags, etc. At that point, you must choose the contest you wish to participate in.
This is the only time to enter a contest.

If you create your book without entering the contest at this initial stage, you cannot enter the contest with that book later.

Here's a tip.
The easiest way to enter a WN contest is to just go to the Contest Event Page and click "Join the Contest" then follow the prompts to create your contest book.

    When making a new novel, be sure that your novel is in the contest. Make sure you click dropdown box called 'Writing Contest' before submitting your novel. Remember to upload at least 4 chapters to get it through vetting so people can see and vote for your novel! Doesn't mean to just stop after 4 chaps! Keep uploading. It will help.

I know there are prompts given, but I want to understand if we're supposed to pick one of the ideas and write about it or just write based on the general prompt and disregard the idea?               Damn, I literally created a novel a few days ago. Would be count if I make a new novel to enter and then copy my novel over? it's literally 3 chaps but that still took me a while and I don't want to think of a new idea and spend ours of my time to catch up to where I was.

                JackCook You can create a new novel and copy paste your chapters of a previous novel. HOWEVER, that means you will need to delete those previous chapters, and change the title of your novel to (deleted) or something similar since you cannot delete the book.

                    bianhua take the general prompt if you can. The ideas exist so that they can help you get started, so you can use them if you want to.

                    You can keep serielizing even after the contest ends. That's completely fine.
