Lonelytree but do you know how are the books in the "what's next" section being decided? None of the novels were being requested (except Lord Xue Ying) and some of them are not even popular China.
Aside Lord Xue Ying does QI ignore everything else in the novels pickup request?
Additionally, voting "what's next" makes zero sense since they are already being translated and will be released anyway. It would be much more sensible to vote for books before assigning translators. Once a translator is assigned, then the book can be give a coming soon status.

I remember there’s major demand for monster factory but QI seems to be ignoring it and putting random stories no one’s ever heard of in the “what’s next” column. I honestly don’t see how they do business. I’ve basically come to terms with them not caring about their readers but they should still pay attention to what they want to read. This is like hearing people want apples but deciding to sell bananas. It also ruins their reputation. QI has one of the worst reps of any company I’ve ever seen. Forums are filled with complaints and QI just focuses on attacking other sites to gain a monopoly. If ww drops I’m dropping webnovels in general. They’re not even that good compared to real books which I could buy cheaper or even get for free at the library. And there’s even virtual libraries now.
SRandom Actually, most of the novels in What's Next are the most popular of that genre in CN Qidian. You might not heard of it because you might not read that particular genre. That or it was the other work of the author whose works are already famous on webnovel.com. You'd be surprised how some author didn't want to have their work translated. After all, there's no guarantee what's popular in China will be popular translated and as you know, only popular titles get premiumed, and thus earning money for the author. If the translation was bad or anything of that sort, they will only end up with a bad reputation, why would one wish for that?

Lonelytree Looking at the stats made available by the stats guy, some of the books - e.g. spiritual attainment of minghe, shadowhack, why do you summon me etc have less than 1m views on Qidian or rating less than 7.5. They are neither popular nor well-rated in China, nor was it requested by anyone. On the contrary, most of the requests are on popular books with at least few million views.
SRandom Those are accumulated views. Some of these titles are new and have reached the popularity achieved by those older titles if viewed within the same period of time.
I just wanted to ask, can Qidian force translators to translate a project they are not interested in? If not then even if people suggest any number of novels, if noone wants to translate it, it won't be picked up. But that's fine since you don't want to spend potentially years translating something you are not interested in. Also even if there is translation group, they still need enough translators there otherwise you have to choose between nuber of projects or nuber of chapters.
Also I think the voting system is fine. From the beginning they said that it is voting for what novel should be released sooner. Also what is the point of voting for novel that doesn't have translator? You are not guaranteed that a translator will be interested in given novel in near future.
Morgana_lefay No, we are not forced to translate project we're not interested in.
Morgana_lefay https://forum.webnovel.com/d/4559-never-s-faq-3rd-edition Go to the How do I make a Novel Pickup Request? section.
Ebu8b The picture is so small I cant read it LOL But thanks
Lonelytree Then Qidian really can't do anything about some requests, which is understandable. It just seems like some people think that translators just magically appear for every novel they request, or if the translator is in a group that they can just magically translate any number of series.
Yeah mabe QI doesn't do enough to find translators, but on the other hand how many translators can there be that also want to work for QI and translate the requested novel and have enough time to translate it so it doesn't take decades to finish.

Morgana_lefay There are many reasons: Not every book is suitable for translation (might be good in the early chapters but turn to trash later). Qidian might not own the rights to certain books. They have other books they would rather translated.
Morgana_lefay Oh I was sure that you can click on it to enlarge the pic...
