    I agree with you bro, stories that would have been an enjoyable read become weird amalgamations of Western names and chinese culture. Like when novels either only translate the MC's name into english without a surname, or when they westernize entire novels and change the names or setting locations and even the side characters, also without surnames. Meaning if any character was part of a notable clan or had a gimmick in their name to denote they were affiliated with something. It now gets lost in translation due to no one having a surname and everyone having the same 4 western names of Victor, Mike, Tom, and Rich

      There's also the culture clash. What might be acceptable in one country absolutely isn't in another. A good example is '7 yr old Genius' where they talk about punishment with a giant ruler/cane. Just a whisper of that would get one, if not several, visits from Child Protective Services... same with the idea that a little girl just runs away, and no one cares. Yet they're trying to westernize the names (mostly forgot thankfully) and that disconnect jerks me out of the story because I keep wondering when CPS is going to show up (and no, even wealthy families have to deal...just not as badly).

                Happy_AltRight they have some good novels that they translate but then they stop with their translations, and i'm positive that there are novels that have been westernized that could've been really good. but the practice of westernizing their names also makes them change the entire fucking plot, and then webnovel just falls apart and becomes garbage
