maybe like 1-2 of ad for a chapter? because normally it's like a 30 sec for 4 stone for extra chapter in the past

If you read their old old old old old old old post, they said that ads can not generate enough money.
Google does it. Amazon does it. Businesses around the world does it. But not Qidian.
But HEY! SS covers the lack of money generated from ads.

CKtalon have you got some real numbers for ss to ad as over the last few days I've been talking to website people I know as I build servers and set up sites ( i make no claim in designing sites or setting up the ad deals/ word etc I do all the techie bits etc) and they seem a little at odd's towards your numbers with the amount of traffic listed that we found online and how much you should be made via phone over pc ad's, as I've said in this and other posts I'm happy to watch ads to make up the missing stones we lose for not using the phone app also being that in fact qi / webnovel is owned by tencent and even run of the main ip in china I'm a bit confused as to if your doing it in house ( ie via tencents hosting service and ad servers) as if you are it seems odd to the amount you get back ratio wise as you qutoed above

You can easily check what CPM various ad networks give. It maxes out at $10 CPM, and most averaging around $1 CPM,

That means $10 per 1000 views, or 1 cent a view. One SS costs about 2 cents, so that's a ratio of 2x. If the CPM drops to $1 per 1000 views, the ratio is 20x.
Actually, I might have made a mistake, assuming using max CPM of $10. It's more like a chapter (average 10 SS) that is equivalent to 20 ads. So yea...to 'unlock' a chapter with ads, you need to watch 20 ads. But this is assuming that repeatedly watching an ad by the same person continues paying you the same CPM.
Also, ad revenue has been declining over the years, so it will eventually not be a sustainable model

CKtalon just an idea why can't we bring back the TKA anime back etc on a youtube channel and have enforced add's like 3 x30 sec ones at the start middle and end which youtube do enforce , I mean this time last year I was told this on NU by the Qidain rep ( please take note of the last comment by the rep as this post was to do with why to start with some many of the over the top permissions were needed on the v1 ( btw i'll be nice and not post the one were he was hailing tencent having the world best web dev's after the little web screw up in the week)
if the plan is to create this whole platform , how about making it so pc users can rewatch TKA or even I'll say there is some good Chinese Dong Hua like Uncharted Walker as it runs at a real 22-25 mins or bloody code ( but that's only 12 mins of so ) without the 10-15 min plus of forgive me but odd ad's on things like the 3d cgi btth etc
CKtalon yeah, i understand it can't all be done at once as such , but as we did have the video's before as they didn't have ad's in them before if I rem right, do you see my point about getting extra ad money in to balance out the lost stones to pc/ laptop / pc tablet users with the locked ads ..was more to the point etc :)

Isseiyggh or limit the number of chapters being locked, as some novels seem to be going a bit OTT, to be honest, i think someone pointed out on novel had over 100 locked ( this was said to me in my reading sect , and its not one I read so, I'm willing to say I've not looked as not had the time but it true it seems a bit on the insane side and also it's as if you want pirate sites to take your traffic away and stop web novel from growing)
CKtalon do you know why the mobile app doesn't have static ads at the end of chapters like the browser version does? It might help with the lack of ad revenue which could lower the consumer costs. Otherwise, why are there static ads on the browser version. It seems unfair that browser users get more ads but don't get the option of watching an ad for more SS.
KoraL The app is supposed to give a better experience and they probably think that having those detract from the experience. Those ads also pay very little that they probably think it's not worth it. The browser version is just a shared code based with the desktop, that's why the ads are shown.
CKtalon And if an ad is forced to read a chapter it put at every chapters and not only to the locked chapters, will this not able to solve the proleme?

The_Grindelwald You need at least 20 ads (on mobile) and about 40 ads (on desktop) per chapter to replace Premium. Are you willing to watch about 10-20min of ads for a 10 minute read of a chapter?
The above is just an estimate based on standard ad revenue earnings.
Also ad revenue is generally decreasing so it's not a long term solution.

You are very dumb, it's almost embarrassing. Google and Facebook has billions of customers. Wouldn't be possible for QI. More customers that see ads, more ad revenue! The other poster cktalon? has explained it well.
