I'm genuinely curious as to how long it took for you to see results (collections, gifts, powerstones, etc) on your webnovel.
My novel is currently sitting at 500 something views with only one valid reader being myself. I'm feeling a bit down since the views seem not to increase, so I am just searching for some fellowship.

my inkstone stats are almost 2 days behind if you're asking about that

as for my views, I dunno, cause I already had like 40 chapters written in advance(I've been publishing my novel for a while on other sites before moving here) and I dumped them all one after another with about 5 minutes of break in between each chapter, which resulted in over 1000 views within an hour(probably since it stayed on top of "recently updated" for so long)

My one showed results fast when I posted 3 chapters it was at like I think 1k or 3k views right now it has 30k views but I donโ€™t know how to check how many people read my novel(fanfiction)

I'm also on the same boat but it really takes a while in platforms like this. Competition is high. Just keep on posting.

It takes forever and I'm already at 50 chapters. You will have to look for other ways to promote your work like social media.

WoodenDrumRhythm you currently only have 8 Chapters, so you have potential for growth. If you had some chapters in the 50-100 range, and weren't getting results even after publishing regularly, there would be a need for worries. Don't fret over matters right now. Right now, I suggest you release every single day and get to a reasonable amount of chapters. Readers are skeptical to read books that barely have any chapters to read. The more chapters you have, the more someone would be willing to read it.

Sake_Vision your post has the answer to your novel's low stats. You dumped so many chapters in a short amount of time that it didn't reach as many people as it would have otherwise. You should have timed the chapters at intervals of a few hours each and posted them all over the course of a few days. How about creating the book again and reposting the chapters? Also, I suggest a clickbait cover. Webnovel doesn't enforce any "Only Your Own Cover" rule so you can rip some image from Google and use it, then rotate with other images every now and then. The only thing stopping you from doing this is your conscience.

MADE_IN_MEMES you can go to INKSTONE and check for valid reads. They are a good representation of how many chapters have been read.

A_Gitagon You seem to be releasing regularly now, so I suggest you get a clickbait cover as well. The second issue might be the names of your world and characters. They read really strange for me, and for others, I presume, too. You might want to try something that fits in the realm of Western, Fantasy, or Eastern names here on Webnovel.

Imma just say this but I don't have any formula for success. Webnovel has too many authors now, so competition is fiercer than ever. With that wolf contest that came up, it's only going to get worse.

Clickbait the readers. User anime-tiddie covers. Use the more popular tags. Use anything that can get people interested in your book. If you want a wider reach and audience, you gotta do this. It's the truth of life.

All-in-all, Good Luck! And happy writing!

Well then, I am off to get myself a new anime-tiddie clickbait cover to get more readers. Bye~bye~

Generally is after you have a pretty substantial number of chapters online.

Now, the precise number tends to vary, but you will probably not get some readers till you're around 20 chapters.

                  WoodenDrumRhythm

For me, till around chapter 52 I was seeing intermittent readers and nothing too substantial. But on my 53rd chapter, the reader counts and interactions just started to blow up for some reason. I upload at 3ch/wk so that means my work started to gain more traction around week 17-18.

I think it may have been because I changed my front cover to be something less artistic and more visible when viewed at smaller resolutions (because when browsing on mobile devices or the website, the user only sees a small version of your cover). I also made my cover more descriptive of the type of plot.

                  Old Cover
                  New Cover

Tbh though, I was mainly writing for fun, so I didn't feel demotivated when my work didn't receive a lot of reads, reviews, or votes at the early stages. But I can understand your frustration. All I can suggest for you is to evaluate your front cover as well as your book title. They are what the user sees first and will pretty much determine if they are going to click your book or not. Try to ask yourself, "Would I click this book if I saw this in the wild?"

Next, I would also suggest that you check your tags. Try to avoid highly specific ones like: #specialcultivationmethod and opt for more general and wide

This is all the suggestions I can offer. Keep writing, friend!

Junior_Sundar Webnovel updated INKSTONE and now you can't add your own tags. You gotta choose from their shitty list that barely lets you get specific. Those bastards.

Also, the new cover looks :fire:

IMPLICATION LMAO, Anime Tiddies, but still thanks a lot for the advice. I indeed do need to change my cover to be interesting.

PWS How good is the contract, I have one sitting on my inkstone but haven't filled it out yet. People always mention the negatives but are the benefits there?

A_Gitagon In my opinion, the terms and conditions are mentioned clearly. It is up to you, as an author, to make your craft popular to monetize from it.

PWS How do you get the contract? Does someone reach out to you to sign? Can you share more stats such as power ranking, collections or no. of views you are at when you received the contract? I just started for a month and at around 150K views...

To truly benefit from Webnovel's contract you need to have a regular upload schedule (I mean daily uploads) with a min of 1.5k words per chapter.

On top of that, you must have a work that is monetisable and marketable. I'm talking about the generic stuff you see on the front page of this website, because it is those kinds of work that get a stable viewership.

You get paid based on the amount of coins expended on your work. So the most chapters you release and the longer they are, the more you will benefit.

So I'd recommend you evaluate your work according to these basic parameters if you are considering signing the contract for this to be your primary job (cuz I know a lot of authors actually live off of their work on this platform).

I'm not saying that you should not do it if you don't meet these parameters. In fact, I'm contracted and I don't have a daily upload schedule. I don't get paid much. But even a few pennies offer a lot of motivation for me to write on.

WoodenDrumRhythm I think your book will have to reach the 100.chapters threshold if you want to see results.
Readers on webnovel prefer books with a lot of chapter.

IMPLICATION thanks Iโ€™m going to have to change it to fanfiction it was set on novel for some reason so I need repost again Iโ€™m doing it because it sucks when you donโ€™t get that much comments

MADE_IN_MEMES I am over a hundred chapters in and don't get much comments either. Got some 700 Collections, some 2K Valid Reads a day, and some 175K views. Just keep going and don't let a lack of Reader interaction bother you, you [and I] will get there, hopefully.

RealFantasies I was contacted by someone from webnovel at beginning of 2021, and still apply for a contract through a link (forgot the link) when my novel reached the requirements. And, you are in a much better stats than me when went premium.

readers get attracted to books with more chapters........keep on writing and never stop.
One weakness most new writers have is that they want to see results almost immediately. But it doesn't work that way.
Maintain a stable update of chapters and it takes time.
I think you have a hundred plus chapters, you will get many more readers.
