hey ive been hearing things like webnovel has stolen people work form others sites without the author's permission dies anyone know anything? is this a sinister type of thing or is it a case of didn't realize they weren't the author
Stolen work
puppetgoestututut
Nope
They straight up stole them and posted them on the site posing as the authors some even just changed the names and said the story was theirs
puppetgoestututut it's not Webnovel who steals. Get your facts right. Inkstone is a free web publishing platform. Some people go and copied some popular original novels, posted them on Webnovel using Inkstone, claimed these are their hardwork, and even asked for donation on PayPal. In other words, plagiarising and looking to make some bucks from it.

So far these are confirmed to be plagiarized:
https://www.webnovel.com/book/10851620606190505
https://www.webnovel.com/book/10835104505183005/Forgotten-Conqueror
https://www.webnovel.com/book/10843788005186705/The-Good-Student
https://www.webnovel.com/book/10848515506189505/The-Snake-Report
This one, though not 100% confirmed, is almost certain to be plagiarized as well

Yeah i hope webnovel will take some action let this post be NOTICED
how will you fix this @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL, because this issue will tarnish your reputation, and let's be honest, your prestige in the online translation community is not great to begin with.
more important question, how to detect plagiarization?
i suggest you create a report original novel button to have readers report plagiarized novels, it's not the perfect solution, but at least it's something. When it comes to translating, or stealing another person's work, you need to give credits where credits are due. Don't jeopardize the trust that you have with your fans and customers, it's important to take action toward a good cause :v:
Well, another approach, that could fix this issue, is adding a layer of protection before being able to add a novel on the site. Like, make it hang there for example 24/48h, during wich a dedicated staff member would chech the interweb whether the story been around somewhere else and contact the author... or sth. If you are short on hands, I'll bet there would be plenty of fellow daoists willing to help you with this for a fancy title and/or pocketfull of stones monthly.
I am in group at FB, the staff already notice it and working on it~~
What's It's Like to be Eternal and Forgotten Conqueror have both been taken down already after WN or QI received the proper DMCA claim from their respective authors, not readers. So please take note of that. The authors need to be the one to file the DMCA claim to Webnovel, not someone else.
The Good Student and Snake Report are still live. Please advice these authors to take the necessary step of sending an email to Webnovel for them to take action.
Webnovel has the system in place, not automatic though. So the author needs to take the few steps to protect his own work.
Miya Yes, we have a "report story" link just under the "Add to library" button in PC site and right to the book name in m site.
Vyte What's the source that Snake report plagiarized. I want to read it.

Storm_Water Royal road and Amazon both have it.

Amazon also has it, "The Snake Report" by Jake Montesi
checkm8 Oh okay. Thanks Boss.
dapenggaofei oh wow, i didn't notice even after all this time. could you guys make it stand out a bit more?
UncleOddball That's impossible. Can't really expect a person to know every novel in the world stuff would get through and it cost too much. Also language barriers they mostly higher Chinese main language speakers
Miya It depends on our UX designer. However I think position of the report link in pc site is just OK.
