They keep adding novels I've never seen asked for on the Forums. If their goal is money and want to empty out our pockets they could at least add novels we want and would be willing to pay those outrageous Spirit Stones cost.
And their next novel section is is a joke. If they want to see what's popular and the readers want next they need more selection. Like dozens if not hundreds of choices. I'm willing to bet users only go there for the free spirit stones.
I totally agree with you in regard to the pickup requests. It would be nice to at least see webnovel cares. Like, they could make a list or something where they put the requested novels or an official post once in a while where they give us the opportunity to vote one or to into the what's next pool or something. Now it seems like the pickup requests have no other reason than giving us the feeling that we might be able to have one of those novels in the What's next pool someday.
In regards to the What's next section, I actually think it's nice to have a small one (well not 3 like now but around 10 like they had at the beginning) because that actually gives us time to have a look at the novels we didn't know beforehand. The thing I find a bit dumb about it is that we don't actually know much about the novels. The covers are misleading in many cases and the synopsis ... Well, to put it nicely, they're not that informative in most cases. I'd love to have one chapter of each novel to see how it's written (and translated) and get a feel for the story. Now it's more like playing a guessing game which novel might be good :(
OMDGEAR The ones on the forums most likely already had and/or dropped by a translator (that is not from or employed by Qidian). If they wanted that translator's work to be on here, and continue it, both of them will have to talk, which is not necessarily easy to do.
Also, the question is do they have enough extra translators to even pick up those works. Qidian has many more raws, and I think they could only pick several at the moment to be translated. Introducing a new novel is like, "here's our new product, please try it!" Of course, they want more readers and those willing to pay. At the same time, they want more translators.
More translators, more stories, more readers, more investment.
They have more than enough money to support new translators for the novels on the pickup requests. Also, most of the novels on What's next are dropped after a few weeks/months, totally useless.
While I get that it may be bothersome to talk with previous translators of dropped novels in other sites, some of the novels in request forum are those which have not been translated at all.

They don't need to talk with the past translators. They could start over from scratch, or do what they did for God and Devil World and start from the later chapters. I believe there were like 3 or 4 different translation groups doing GDW up to 180 or so, and QI just didn't bother with those chapters, moving on with the current translator who working on it who agreed to work with QI.
A little insight into the pick-up process. Generally two reasons why you don't see Qidian sweeping up the forum requests.
1. Statistics. Most pick-up requests are from readers who have read some chapters of the title in question but Qidian has the statistics for the whole book and most titles start to lose popularity after a certain point and that could be why some titles aren't picked up cause while they might have a promising start, they didn't go anywhere.
2. Back-end hold up. Now, Qidian doesn't work as fast as you might imagine. For example, my romance was in the library for months before it entered the voting pool. In fact, the list of go-to-be-in-the-voting-pool novels is larger than you might expect.

Lonelytree do translators have a choice to translate ad per their own wish or do they need to choose from a defined set of novels?
I had always hoped that novels like zhui xu, the outcast, nine yang sword saint etc. Etc. would be translated.
Female based novels like 'my master disconnected yet again' would also be a great plus
But, even after posting and bumping several times, it seems to be a dream of far future The worst part is-they are not even being translated by independent translator out of fear that it is qi
I just want for the novels that have a lot of readers to be finished earlier. What's the point of having more novels to read if none of them is completely translated?

I've been on the site before, but I could never tell how popular they are using Google translate. Is there a way to tell? I don't understand the site enough.
OMDGEAR well, just 8-9 of 20, and 15-16 of top 50 novels are being translated.
And, this is just the current billboard. There are plenty of old novels which were wildly famous yet are left untranslated
Water0202020 Of the 20, 4 of them are History genres. They are terrible for western readers. They aren't even considered popular in China. Seems like the rest are almost all translated except for one or two.
The 24 hour hot sales board isn't very indicative of a book's popularity since a mass release can result in one of the books appearing there.
The ones that constantly do well are mostly translated already, if not, already being translated and will be put in the pool in the future.
