  • Went from 6,600 to 800...I could be wrong, maybe they were just inflating the numbers to make us feel good, but I think it might be that it now reflects those who added to library and have actually read the novel? Next thing to change will have to be the views as there is no way my views are accurate if those collections weren't.

  • FleetingClouds Yeah, I changed it back. However, the only reason I knew was because someone else happened to check their own and told me about it. I don't normally check my novel page, so I would have been completely unaware of it if not for that. Meaning my name would have been out there for months for anyone to see thanks to the idiotic decisions of these developers at Webnovel.

    • FleetingClouds It's if you filled out the author settings in inkstone. It asks for your name, address, and other personal information. Whatever you put for your full name there is what appears as your author name now

      • MasterRabbink If you put your full name in on author settings like it asks then your full name appears as your new author name. I'm not sure what appears if you don't have anything in there.

      • bachingchung Given that I got a death threat in a comment recently I don't find this as amusing as you do... but thank you for being a reader. Did you follow Grave of Heroes over to RRL?

        • I've put up with a lot of crap from this site. I don't expect much. We're using each other. You use me for ad revenue, and I use you to build a reader base. You've been utterly unresponsive to feedback I've offered since I started writing on this site, but that's fine too, you don't have to respond to me.

          BUT.

If you're going to update the site with a change that puts author's full names, as opposed to their pen names or usernames, give us a warning. Putting aside that many of us prefer to write with anonymity, others of us have already started building a brand around our name. When you screw with our name you screw with our brand.

I'm honestly speechless. Are you all trying to go out of your way to screw with your authors? Would be nice if you had given the rest of us a heads up so we could protect our brand and our privacy.

          • KINGAK Webnovel does have a cooking novel fyi. Check out Gourmet Food Supplier. Additionally there are a number of cooking based originals. I'm also a fan of God of Cooking, but it's owned by a different company so I doubt Webnovel will pick it up.

            • HelloIsMyname Only one of mine still updates on WN, it's slice of life/comedy, a system novel in the style of The Mech Touch, Gourmet Food Supplier, and Game Market 1983. It's called Luxury Cafe Owner.

              https://www.webnovel.com/book/11529130205422005/Luxury-Cafe-Owner

Synopsis: Alan Pender, a bored, 20-something, college graduate with a degree in general studies woke up the day after graduation and suddenly realized his degree is useless and he has to get a job. As he walks around looking for help wanted signs, a series of unfortunate accidents occur resulting in him entering a coma. When he wakes up, he discovers he's been granted a mysterious system. Moreover, the system finally provides him with some direction about what he should do with his life. Follow Alan as he explores his new found calling!

The other novel is called Grave of Heroes, it's on RoyalRoad. It's on temporary hiatus but has 51 chapters available. It's like Swallowed Star or Godly Model Creator.

              • Shamelessly promoting my new novel (GoH still being published at Royal Road don't worry)

              • Feedback:
Capitalize the first letter in every word of your title

Chapter 1 - Typos: "in a what felt like" (do ctrl + F to find this) should be "in what felt like a", "small memories" (ctrl + F to find) should be "a few memories" or "fading memories", "into a black hole. Threatening" (ctrl + F to find) should be a comma not a period, "or so I though" (ctrl + F to find) should be "or so I thought".

I planned on going through the first two chapters and listing typos, but there are a lot so I'm going to stop here and just recommend reading through it again to proofread it.

                Overall comments:
Starting with the style: first person is an interesting choice, and I think it works for you as you seem to be relying on the strength of your character.

                Next character:
A gay MC is unique on this site, and his bitter experiences are powerful to hear about. However, keep in mind that a large portion of your audience is going to be close minded and maybe intolerant. I'd include a tag like shounen ai or yaoi, so that readers can't complain that they didn't know ahead of time.

                Next with setting/premise:
Reincarnating as the villain in a story is a somewhat familiar premise (see History's Strongest Senior Brother). If you intend on making a harem (as the title indicates) then you should take time to develop each member of the harem. Wish fulfillment is all well and good, but a lot of people get annoyed when a harem gets too large and the members all sort of blend together. Each member should have a distinct personality.

                Overall remarks:
You could definitely use some heavy editing. That being said, most of the mistakes are typos. Your grammar is fine, and your word choice is, for the most part, fine. A gay MC is a unique aspect and can be a selling point. However, be aware that you'll probably receive some negative feedback from people who are homophobic. Also, keep in mind that most readers like to be able to substitute themselves for the MC. Thus, by making the MC a gay man, you are limiting your audience by quite a bit. Of course, there's nothing wrong with writing a niche novel. I'm just saying you should be aware of that going forward. I'd read through the Book of Authors, it has some really helpful advice on how to do well on this site.

Alright that's all I have for you. I hope my feedback helps.

                • Hello Everyone,
Another shameless author here. I have previously been published on this site for my novel Grave of Heroes. Though that novel is now published at Royal Road, I have begun publishing my side project here.

It is a system novel called Luxury Cafe Owner.

If you like cooking novels, system novels, funny novels, or slice of life novels, I recommend you give it a read!

                  Thanks for your support.

                • bachingchung Hmm that's true for the most part. I will say that Once Human, Now A Parasite is an exception. It's an original novel by TheCrow, it has 212 chapters. It's a reincarnation type novel.

                  • There are a lot of good original novels on the site, if you ignore the fanfictions. Obviously I like my own novel, Grave of Heroes, which is sort of like a Western Swallowed Star (or that's how I view it). However, there are also a lot of traditional Eastern style original novels that are good. I recommend checking them out.

                    • I didn't realize it was a thing lol I did mine today (Saturday)...but at least I'm doing 12 chapters :D

                      • Hope you like the novel!

What makes it unique/different: It is a western style sci-fi/fantasy novel, but I've incorporated aspects of eastern style fantasy. Thus, there is cultivation, but non-traditional realms, non-traditional methods, and the characters cultivate super powers rather than qi or immortality.

Synopsis: Facing an apocalypse of its own making, the people of Earth reached for the stars. Unfortunately, they grabbed more than they expected. When disaster struck, the population was decimated. However, from the ashes rose a new force for humanity. 500 years later, the world has changed in ways that no one foresaw. In a world where titans of men compete for survival, Braden Nolan must find his own way in this world, balancing the expectations of his clan with his own values.
