snowonereadslikeme I agree they should have made a notification or sent us an email, but it's hardly "burying" it when it's been a sticky post at the top of the forum...

It's definitely overpriced compared to other subscription services such as Netflix and the like, but I guess what really matters is if you already pay more than that a month on spirit stones...
Seijuro_Sensei How big is your screen/resolution, just curious since a 12 stone chapter for me is usually like 9+ pages on my tablet o.O
Personally I don't see how removing "free" chapters will help turn a profit, I'm only going by personal experiece but I find myself buying chapters when the novels interesting but using the free chapters to "push through" till next interesting section, now that the novels aren't getting free chapters I don't see myself paying stones on the filler chapters so the novels may as well be dropped and not get the stones I would've used on future arcs if they get too drawn out.
By the way I'm not a user who only uses free spirit stones, I buy spirit stones atleast monthly if not more often, so I'm not opposed to throwing away money, it's just that chinese novels have a tendency to try and "draw out" the content since they get paid per character I hear, and if I have an option to throw my stones at a novel that is interesting at that time or not interesting, I'm going to give them to the interesting novel.
WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Thanks for the timely investigation and correction.
I was just about to make my own topic for this but since it's already made I'll just say that it deserves a partial refund atleast even if not on purpose, we are basically paying twice the SS per word then usual.
Yeah I'm usually someone who tries to defend supporting the translator, author and publisher but even with paying large amounts of money (for my personal situation) I am having issues keeping 4 premium novels up to date and that wouldn't be an issue if the free chapters came out at a respectable pace like 7-14 chapters behind the premiums but you get some novels that are rediculous like the strongest gene that has 76 premium chapters out at the moment ahead of the free releases, if we say 10 stones per chapter that 760 stones just to catch up with the releases and the gap grows daily...
CreamPuffDelights Doubt it, Afterall for all the supposed "negative publicity" we are causing, the fact remains that we are still on their forums and reading their novels, and if people care enough to be complaining here, that usually means they are paying qidians bills one way or another so why would they stop
Olivia Sure? Not that my opinion is more important than any other though, so doubt it will make a difference lol.
ThousandHeavens If enough people do this, it should work... However having a sub par novel on top of the rankings instead of what deserves to be on top would irritate me I imagine haha.
And most people seem to ignore the fact that premium chapters are basically like how the translators used patreon before this (admittedly a little expensive). They are "bonus" chapters for a price, if you don't want to pay or can't afford to pay for them, you can easily go read another of the many novels for a bit and comeback when you have a stock of free chapters again. Was what I did just recently when AGM went premium...
ButterLover So much rage lol, at the very least 15-20min sounds alot more reasonable than the average of 1+ hours that he comparing with.
I'm not one opposed to premium but the addition of each new book that swapped to premium is making my stone's not be able to keep up, currently I've resorted to keeping current with two premium novels and reading the others later when they unlock for free.
SirLobo93 Totally agree with your grouping system, let alone I'm highly dubious of the OP's "average" read speed, one hour for a chapter in this content would be surprising considering the amount of characters in a chapter, even Firefox's "reader" only assumes 13min on the average chapter length and I have to assume it's going off an average that's far more correct then the OP's estimates.
