It seems the translator totally abandoned this novel. It is a very good novel with a sturdy fanbase. Please pick it up!
I really miss those ad-walled chapters. I would see hundreds of ads with no problem, but I simply cannot buy SS. If things keep on going south like this, then I just won't have enough to read what I like.
Not to mention most of the novels I follow have been having really crappy translation speeds, or seem to have been droped entirely, with no warning to the readers.
I wonder if Webnovel is having money issues and being unable to properly pay the bills, like paying the translators and editors? That would explain why things seem to have been developing towards "milking the comunity".
Of course, we will never get an answer if this is the case, since the contract forbid them from doing it...

CPoD hasn't seen a single update in a week now. It used to update twice a day, and the readers haven't received a single explanation so far (that I've seen).
What's happening?
Hello. I have original novels publicized, and i want to see all new comments. At the moment, the only way i know of seeing the comments is to open the comment section as a reader and then scroll down the chapters.
Is there another way ?
I'm recently feeling the need for something that is heartwarming and fun - a simple comedy with a bit of a plot, but easygoing and relaxing.
No hard themes, nothing that makes me feel prideful, face-slapping, sad or those kinds of things. You know. One without tragedy or suspense which makes you stand on your toes all the time.
And, specially, no rape and overbearing dominnance. (It seems like all "comedy" novels here are about people who either are crazy about sex, extremely dominant and face-slapping, or parodies full of adult themes... can't say much, i myself am writting one of those, lol).
Something like Death March.
Is there a novel like that here ?
Edgaaaar thank you very much! bows
Of course, i would like it if some of the narcissism wasn't there. It becomes borderline Mary Sue at sometimes. But then you see times when the MC becomes a beggar, or acts extremely humble in front of people, and you see that all that narcisism is, in truth and essence, the way he treats those who are narcisistic and arrogant themselves.
Dominanting the authoritarian and proud. Being gentle with the gentle and likeabable. And being neutral with those who are polite, but are not particularly kind to you. And all of that from the position of someone who brings out the true traces of someones' personality - you will make the proud underestimate you, so they will show their own dirt and then you will dominate them after they have shown their dirt. And you will make the kind show compassion about you, so you will be compassionate with them as well. The same with loyalty and so on.
That's the true charm of this kind of MC.... if it is handled properly ;)
TravelingPoet except that, once you're above a certain age in real life, getting older actually makes you weaker.
Once you get on your late 20´s, you can very well get your ass handed to you by any angry teen on a punk lifestyle.
In novels and cultivation and etc, it's also the same. The so called "genius" are nothing but young people who have talent beating the old who don't.
The charm of the old beating the young is in that. The young aren't "harmless children". They are people who would normaly whoop your buttlocks. But you can counter their inborn talents with power obtained by experience and wisdom.
Emperor Domination is that indeed. And i love it because of that. Arrogant, proud youngsters having their assess handed to them by the ol' granpa here. Gives a feeling of "me aging isn't making me frailer and weaker, but actually giving me power".
Age groups. It's all about targeting the right age groups :)

N0xiety Well, if it was my business i wouldn't do it :)
As much as the paying public thrives on controversy and "forbidden things", Royal Road is there to prove that there just isn't enough public in the webnovel world to justify opening ones' arms to this kind of content. It may be o.k. for a fanfiction-oriented site, but the vast majority of readers want either soft love, lighthearted comedy, or hardcore action (with some degree of blodshed, but never to the point of actual realism or "B movie" gore).
None of which include sex. That's just how english-language speakers are. You want to see a very poorly-rated novel? Write an 18+ one. I usually have around 200 readers and 2~30 followers on my 18+ novels. But as soon as i take the 18+ content off, this number skyrockets to the thousands of readers and hundreds of followers.
Webnovel.com needs to bring people in. To reach for the public and to increase the fanbase on the site. Taking ANY controversial decisions right now would be akin to start a bakery and immediately post a "nightclub activities from 7pm to 3am, minors not allowed at that time" sign right at the front door.
Sex is taboo in english. Realistic violence (and no, things like Battlefield or COD aren't realistic at all), as well. In most of the world, to be frank. Anything that has any relation to 18+ stuff will be labeled as dirty, evil and gross, and that's just how things are.
After all, GTA may have sold a lot... but not even there someone had the guts to include explicit sex as a game feature. "Hot Coffe" was banned right when it was launched, even as a "fan-created mod" ;)
And, about real gore... you won't see gore in games, at all. The closest thing to real gore you will see on a game is the PETAs' Cooking Mama parody.
Anything on the level of GTA, COD, Battlefield and etc you can get with an 15+ censorship (the games being rated M is just to avoid overly-concerned parents and lawsuits. There isn't any need for an 18+ censorship on it). Above that and you're just going into the world of people who have jobs and don't really care to read 18+ webnovels between paying the bills and pleasuring the wife.
If something, they would usually want to read a lighthearted comedy or soft love story....
N0xiety The problem isn't kids or whatever. I couldn't be less concerned about they becoming "traumatized" (i have been reading classics - which everyone think are good to you, but have never read- like One Thousand and One Nights since i was 9, i don't think descriptions of sex or people being ripped to shreds are too much of a big deal).
The problem is the fact that the site will be associated with such themes, be them behind a TAG wall or whatever! (Besides, a kid can just create an account with their e-mail...).
It's a marketing and business decision. You don't want your business to be associated with things that may displease the general public - since you WANT the general public to come and buy your product.
A sister site, however, can have another name, another URL, another style.... and everything different - except it will be rulled by the same people.
This way you won't associate webnovel.com with such themes.
I do think word censorship should be restricted to R18+ material. Or, at worst, R15+.
About R18+ material, i do not think qidian international is really up for the risk. It's one thing from a child to learn how to curse on the internet, and their parents get mad at it.
In fact, most english-readers would not care at all.
However, english readers are VERY easily triggered by sexual, traumatizing or so on content. English is the prime language of "social justice" after all.
Accepting this kind of work on their site can be a HUGE blow to webnovel.com in terms of marketing and acceptance by the general public. Unfortunately, works of this kind would be better off in another platform. (Webnovel.com is a serious business guys, not a fanfiction site).
On a note, however, it would be great if the people at webnovel.com created a sister platform for R18+ content. I really like how the system works here :D
It has been increasingly common for novels to appear with the "Overpowered Protagonist" and the "Strong From the Start Protagonist" themes.
It would be nice to be able to search for novels with this kind of TAG!
Hi.
I'd like to have the option to sign up (to the same profile) with both my facebook e-mail (+password) accounts. Could this be done in the future ?
