There are always new authors being hired by Webnovel, but not everyone has an editor/reviewer yet. I've seen contract novels with hundreds of chapters that have received a lot of criticism from readers due to poor grammatical writing.

I'm not the best person to give advice, but I believe that editors/reviewers should seek out those authors who have just been hired and who don't yet have an editor/reviewer.

Another way is to look at the winning authors of the WPC (weekly contest), as they are the ones who have the highest chances of being hired, in addition to those who participate in the WSA (annual contest).

After that, editors/reviewers could put in their profile description the novels they are currently editing/reviewing or have worked on. Basically, using the profile description as a portfolio. This will attract the attention of those looking to hire editors/reviewers.

  • It's more credible if you point out which novels/others you've proofread/edited, as anyone can say they're a proofreader/editor.

Of course, no one is obligated to do anything and it's up to everyone to do what they want.

    • Read. The best way to start writing a novel is to read.

Only after you've read several novels will you identify with which novels you like and pique your interest, because if you're going to try to write a novel you don't identify with, it's going to be extremely difficult to get it flowing.

When you're reading, you realize that that novel is to your liking when you feel excited to keep reading even in the wee hours. Then, new ideas come naturally like a light on a paragraph or chapter you've read. It is at this time that you should write down these ideas that come to your mind on a paper.

I particularly, when I'm reading novels from the game genre, for example, in some scenes, I think I can do better by having an inspiration based on what I've read.

After you write down all these ideas inspired by what you read, you should think about the world, the setting, the politics, the geography, all the aspects that will involve your fictional world. So you should think about where in this world your MC fits.

What is the purpose of the MC?
What was your life like before waking up or coming across a treasure?
You should ask yourself a lot of questions and the plot will come naturally.

In almost every novel I've read, the MC always starts at the lowest starting point, in the weakest village, in the weakest city, in the weakest kingdom, in the weakest empire, in the weakest continent, in the weakest world, in the weakest galaxy, in the weakest universe...

Ultimately, the MC will face tribulations as he climbs a grand ladder of power.

You should know that the reader is interested in knowing how the MC will face and resolve the difficulties that will arise during his journey.

When the MC achieves something that seemed impossible, that's when the reader feels drawn and fulfilled.

And that sense of accomplishment will be even greater when the antagonist is extremely powerful and has his own ideals, not just one-dimensional characters.

      • You have to think about the rhythm of your story. Read what you've already written imagining that you're a reader and that you don't know anything about it. Then ask yourself, if I were a reader, how would I react to reading this? Is good? Is it pleasant or is it dull and boring?
Imagine, imagining is being able to bring to life the scenario in which your world is being created. Describe the scenarios of this world, describe a little of what is relevant around the MC.

Speaking of comparisons, what do other powerful/rich characters have that the MC doesn't? Make it look like the MC is jealous and your goal is to have it, so when the MC wins you over, it will give the reader a sense of accomplishment.
For example, there is a very beautiful and rich beauty in the big city, but the MC feels inferior and can only admire her beauty from afar, as he is a country commoner.
Due to some twist of fate, the MC obtained treasures, grew strong, gained status, and finally attracted the interest her.

However, the MC will feel that this beauty lost her beauty after her worldview was enhanced and he met other even more stunning beauties in even more important cities.

        • As a reader, no matter what novel it is, if I see that he writes only 700 words per chapter, I leave it without hesitation, as this seems like the work of a lazy and misleading author who makes his novel appear to have too many chapters when in fact it not have.

It is recommended that each chapter have a minimum of 1,500 words and a maximum of 2,500 words is acceptable, more than that makes reading tiring.

          • Good question. There must be a channel on Discord, because anyone can come along and say they're an editor. As the people looking for editors are non-native English speakers, it is difficult to know if that editor is really one.

            • Once is enough, but twice is too much.

              What did I do wrong?

I left a comment and was insulted by several fake accounts and you want me to remain silent?

This clique is deeper than I imagined. I don't waste my time on this forum anymore. I have more important things to do. Suspend my account if you want. Who cares?

I only say one thing: there are thousands of readers who are reading all of this and these unfair actions that you, the bot, are taking, are definitely taking a personal side. After all, I never insulted WN, in fact, I defended it all the time. haha ... how hilarious ...

              • Tomoyuki E você não vai se desculpar com LostInFictions, por "ter olhos, mas não poder ver o Monte Tai?"

And who is that? I never mentioned this author ...
If you want to act that way, then you should apologize to all WN readers when you clearly state that a reader's opinion is useless ...

                • I spoke only truths.

You were offended by being part of one of the frustrated people with life's difficulties and you led your bot army to try to go against my mere opinion, which, as a reader, is useless in your eyes.

As you called me a boy, I say: Madam, I didn't want to anticipate my writing, but I'm going to start writing an outline for my novel right now. And yes, I will post it on this account, because I am not afraid of your bot army or any cliques that you are part of in your 20 years of WN.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing an army of bot giving me a star ... hahaha ...

My post above goes for you too.

In your text, I only see the cry of a frustrated person.

What's easy in this life? Do you think that everything is a fantasy and that everything will be as simple as you wish?

If you want to be an author, you have to know how to deal with negative criticisms and overcome any difficulties you encounter. There is nothing fair in life, everything is obtained through your efforts and sweat. I think you know what that means, Meritocracy!

                    You reap what you produce.

Reread my first post again and you will understand better when I say, if you have confidence in your writing, more fans will have it. Who cares about a minority of people frustrated with life who want to see other people's failure when it's obvious that their life is also a failure?

People who waste their time creating fakes to criticize others on a WebNovel site are just failed scum.

If you have confidence in your writing, the loyal readers will always be there to support you, after all, these are the ones that leave the Royalts.

My friend, don't you know how many words successful authors in China publish daily or pretend not to know?
1,500 words for some are written in 1 hour. Are you telling me that there is no quality in your newsrooms when they make millions of dollars a year?

Yes, I say, if you have difficulty writing, expecting a better contract than WN and being an author who can demand the terms of the contracts is not in your qualifications.

I advise you to be like me, spend more time reading and gaining a better experience.

                      • Lilliny Você não tem experiência em escrever neste site. Você não tem idéia dos termos exatos do contrato.

How can you state this? There are thousands of posts here on the forum that talk about the terms and I'm tired of reading about. I will not repeat, this is very tiring. Not to mention that this is also much talked about in the discord.

And frankly, if you can't publish 1,500 words daily, writing is not for you. I can write this in less than two hours. I don't write because I like to read more.

As for the sites you mentioned in response to Regnov, which was the question I was about to ask, don't forget, most of the readers are from countries outside the USA. I discovered WN when I was looking for the continuation of TGD and the first to appear on google was the Novel Updates that brought me here. So, like me, many arrived here in the same way, many of the sites you mentioned, barely appear on google.

Well, it's useless to keep arguing.

As I said, if you are dissatisfied with WN, publish your novel where you see fit; if i found a better place, i wouldn't waste my time here.

The funny thing is that, as much that criticize WN, spend more time here than anywhere else.

                        • Lilliny LOL. Você não escreve nem tem contrato, então por que está compartilhando sua opinião? Parece que você tem um caso extremo de 'milionário temporariamente envergonhado'.

Do you mean that only someone who is a writer or has a contract has the ability to judge the terms of a single contract? I am a reader and saw many speeches here on the forum about so many referring criticisms. If I can't even give an opinion on a contract, how would my ability to interpret a reading be? When I read more than hundreds of novels here at WN?
Well, your reasoning is very hilarious, if I don't play for the football team that I support, I shouldn't have an opinion on how my team plays, because if I'm not going to be a "shamed millionaire". Hahaha ... Very funny you!

                          • I currently do not write or have a contract. But I can say that there is no other platform as good as WN. And honestly, I doubt that any other platform will attract more readers. WP is not even worth comparing. As for Amazon, well, I never used it and I don't intend to. I am very satisfied with WN.

One day, I start writing my own novel and I will be happy if I am lucky enough to receive a contract. Because who defines how much you get is not exactly WN, but how good your story is. The better you are, the more readers you will attract and the more fans you will have. With that, obviously, more income you will have.

In short, WN is an excellent platform that will promote your novel if it is popular enough. If you are confident with your romance, there is nothing to hesitate about signing a contract here.

For everyone who complains about the terms of the contract provided by WN, I am sorry to inform you, but you do not have enough confidence in your novel.

If you disagree and think that your novel is not inferior to those translated from China, post where you find it best. Do not waste your time mentioning slave contracts when he really are not, as I only see a lament from a frustrated person.

                            • Leaving pirate sites aside. What is all this bureaucracy with the account? Does every contracted from a foreign country need this PAN? What exactly is this? Does the bank account have to be in the USA or can I use the account I have in Brazil, for example?

The best way for you to have thousands of ideas with good plots is ...

                                Ask yourself:

What is the theme of your novel? What world is it in? How is the geography and politics of the place where the MC lives? What are the causes and consequences of these policies in the life of the MC or in the life of those around you? Is he satisfied? What can he do to change that? What obstacles will this have?

In short, all you need to do is follow a certain goal, in which, there will be obstacles to your MC's success. Consequently, conflicts will be inevitable.

The reader wants to know how the MC resolves these conflicts and their consequences. This is where the author answers all questions.
