Answer - As number 2 says, he is told his fate or future by a seer/prophet. But in return, he is a firm believer that only he can decide his fate/future. So, before his fate got decided, he would have idled around.

For the problems, the difference between the two examples I will put is one being too long for my taste and the other one lacking enough info to entice the potential readers.
