Pledge of Authors Discussion
Yeah, placing considerations in here is a good idea, the reason why everything at the main post is not too complex is to prevent anything to become concrete without proper deliberations

Also, if you want I can edit for you...I have a lot of free time...well that ends in two weeks but eh, I can still do it.
Are you of pledging a novel with 1 and 2 month ago as last update?
Oof... a pledge to complete huh... we'll my kind of completing is not "WN-update-everyday" kind of commitment... but sure, I am going to finish my stories.
Cobyboy The Pledge is only in the beginning. It is only a commitment to complete the novel one day. So it is still VERY easy. Oneday... I think a mod should giving more guidance. At least, they could open a recruitment for reader to become a moderator for this Pledge. WN have a Dao badge as an incentive for community moderator.
What is the criteria of the pledge? That is still discussed here.
Yansusu suggested Minimum Words/Minimum Chapter before a novel could enter the pledge. I agree with this.
I personally suggested a Novel with over than 1 month last update added into 'Hiatus' or Yellow Card or if they had made an announcement of their hiatus with END date.
If the author couldn't get contacted or disappear without reason they would be added into 'Red Card' until they continued the novel again.
I don't know about minimum release per week? or per month? RR's author pledge for example requested a novel to have an update at least once per week. I personally agree with this criteria, but @DeJeL would disagree. He update his novel once per month.
So far no punishment except a poor track record/tarnish into one Pen-Name. While the benefit, it would guarantee a completion for reader who checking that thread. It is a pinned thread.
For this to work, WN has to 'add' a moderator for this. Their benefit is getting a 'completed' original rather than 'dropped' original. I believe it is worth at least one slot of Dao badge.
For author, it would add readers who wished to read ONLY novel with a promise of completion.
For reader, they could more confidently read a novel without being afraid of it was dropped. I think 'reader' should have an input of what a 'dropped' novel is. However, it seems this thread made some readers afraid. Gwahahaha.

Hi, I saw you have written a new novel. You might want to consider checking readers' acceptance of your novel. Not every novel would be successful. Try to test the market before committing this 'big' pledge. You can't edit or delete post in here.

I would suggest you to 'finish' your personal problem and posting a few chapter. Your last update is 1 month ago, and that would give a bad image for people who saw the pledge.

MasterRabbink could be issued as a badge. Maybe a tag on the novel. Too difficult to filter through a thread.
On a side note I saw you criticising your own novel with bad earlier chapter etc. Are you thinking of going back to edit? I have a bit of time now. I will find out what a Rabbink is. But if you are going to edit I want to wait lol.

MasterRabbink Yes, I understood that it's just a suggestion. But if you want to make a serious pledge than I think it should be discussed in detail. It's a little strange that one of the people discussing this isn't even making a pledge, though ...
Well, never mind, at the end of the day I think that actions speak louder than words. So, I'll just get back to writing now :D

FluffyMehMeh No way. No Stopping Keep Going. New Chapters incoming. I need to edit grammar. I use 1,2,3 instead one, two, three. I don't have energy to edit earlier chapter. Still working on Holiday. (T_T).

Actually, that novel that is once a month is a partial pledge if you pay attention to the wording... My main novel is updated once a week.
DeJeL He's making that type of post on every thread I looked at rn. Probably some sort of bot? A moderator should probably ban him or something
MasterRabbink I actually didn't want to say anything more to this but, well, in regards to this:
MasterRabbink I don't know about minimum release per week? or per month? RR's author pledge for example requested a novel to have an update at least once per week.
I'd say that it should depend on the author's schedule. If the schedule is daily, then after a week that could be the yellow card, if he updates weekly, then a month might be better for a yellow card, if he only updates once per month ... then maybe you'd need to wait a quarter of a year for a yellow card? :D Might be a bit mean for those authors who update daily, though. But something along those lines could work. Maybe.

yansusustories I agree for this. Daily author had advantaged for promotion since readers loved daily while monthly author story would dissappear in the sea of updates.
MasterRabbink I can see your point of view on this. I work really hard to update daily, sometimes 2x a day. It would be nice to be recognized for my continuous dedication. A little badge would be nice or a section on their featured books.
The way I see it is this: I put in my update schedule up in my book description, and I stick to it. My readers have all seen the dedication over the past few months that I put into the book. They are always sweet and say thank you. I really appreciate their comments and words of thanks.
I did recently have to warn them that if I don't update this coming week I am either dead or out of internet (hurricane).
I digress... I agree. I wish we got recognition and I wish the bad apples did not give other original authors a bad wrap.

In Webnovel you will get reader (I averagely 2) per chapter release. The more you release, the more readers you get. Besides daily release allows you front page on Daily Section.
So the risk of what yansusu said is balanced. Daily novels would be popular and it would have bigger risk.
If you use other sites. The strategy was to stockpile your chapters 12~24 and release it at the same day.
No readers suggesting?

IEATWATERMELON Plus they can just delete their post right?
You mean here in the forum? Not really once someone already posted after you. Unless a mod deletes it, I think. Replied here since the other thread was mostly for the pledges. :)
DazzlingGem Thanks for redirecting him/her and yes, you're right. They can't delete it
