Personally I don't see how removing "free" chapters will help turn a profit, I'm only going by personal experiece but I find myself buying chapters when the novels interesting but using the free chapters to "push through" till next interesting section, now that the novels aren't getting free chapters I don't see myself paying stones on the filler chapters so the novels may as well be dropped and not get the stones I would've used on future arcs if they get too drawn out.

By the way I'm not a user who only uses free spirit stones, I buy spirit stones atleast monthly if not more often, so I'm not opposed to throwing away money, it's just that chinese novels have a tendency to try and "draw out" the content since they get paid per character I hear, and if I have an option to throw my stones at a novel that is interesting at that time or not interesting, I'm going to give them to the interesting novel.

It's not about you, nor someone paying once in a while. It's about those few people swimming in money that can pay for everything they want, no matter how expensive it is.

The current explanation is some Chinese Authors wished their novel to be pay to read.

For profit reasoning. The reasoning, they will get more money in their 'experience'/'calculation'. You are not a whale. Perhaps only a small fish, which buy occasionally. This decision will remove plankton (free reader) who will to the place with better sunlight, however the impulse whale would purchase more. Ads is not enough if you have to 'create' contents.

Freemium rules: Whale give the biggest money. Milk the whale. The other is bonus.

Misguided_Rooster Plankton which only gives ads view. I could become small fish... but... this Rabbink prefers to become plankton for now. If they use the same Chinese's price, I might think. That is affordable.

Wait! I am a Celestial God Rabbink. Gwahahaha.

the problem with that is, it's the plankton that attracts the whale, if there are no plankton, the whales will die, what are they gonna do, when people can't afford to pay anymore?

CantSeeMountTai if they actually reduce the price of the spirit stones, the problem may be solved. More people would be inclined to buy the stones. Spending $5 will be more easy than spending $25. Some locked premium chapters are okay. But not dishing out free ones would make me drop most of my books

The biggest issue that I have right now is the randomized "price" per chapter. If I knew that each chapter was, lets say, 10 stones per then I can do the math and figure how I should purchase stones. This new update just drives me to find a book on kindle. I also agree with 2some about the price. On average a chapter is 12 stones worth and the average length of the chapter is about 2 pages, which means that I'm spending about $10 on 40 chapters or 80 pages of a story that can be at times 2000 pages. In the long run, for the longer stories, I'll be spending $250 on it with no clue whether I'll get an ending. I understand that there is an incredible amount of work that goes in to, not only making the story, but also for the translator. I also love the stories here, however, if this is the case then I'm just going elsewhere for my stories. If you want to put a 100 chapter cap on the stories then I can agree with everything they've done but not if free chapters are gone completely. And the argument about the whales are true but wouldn't whales just go to the artist's or translator's patron pages?

Also if anyone on the back-end reads this. If you guys just start hoarding chapters and release them in a eBook format, I would 100% pay for that. $15 for a 150 chapter eBook.

Seijuro_Sensei How big is your screen/resolution, just curious since a 12 stone chapter for me is usually like 9+ pages on my tablet o.O
