What was the first CN novel you read, and how does it hold up now that you've got more experience with the genre?
What was the first CN novel you read, and how does it hold up now that you've got more experience with the genre?
My very first one was Coiling Dragon, and the one who makes me love CN novels.
I think of all CN novel i've read until now it still rank about third.
what about u?
I started with Douluo Dalu first. I think it's still a pretty good novel
TheDarkCrow I think a lot of people started with CD.
I actually only came across CN webnovels because Zingbox had a Chinese webcomic featured line-up which I tried reading, and CD was the one I liked the most, so after realising there was actually source material, I got hooked.
It's still in my top 5.
Klepar That was also the way a come to know of CD. It was the time when I was still reading Manga and just so happened to come across webcomics, due to slow release I searched the novel and started in my path to defy the heavens.
I saw the manga of Coiling Dragon hosted on a few sites. I would usually read forum posts to see it's worth, but the amount of complaints were higher than I ever expected.
Then I saw the link to WW.
Technically Coiling Dragon
However what got me into webnovels is Tales of Demons and Gods AND Stellar Transformations.
I originally tried Coiling Dragon however since it was different from the Panlong version, which I now find awful, I was unable to get into it first, thus making TDG and ST the first two I tried around the same time I could actually enjoy.
Klepar my first chinese novel was doulou dalu, i actually found out about the manga version first. after googling it, i discovered the chinese light novel.
it was a good story, i like that there were game elements incorporated with cultivation. a little dab of romance and a whole lot of brotherhood
The first one I read is Tales of Demon and God, still haven't finish, hell fudge fish damnation!!!!! ¡!!!!!!!!!
I Shall Seal the Heavens.
Coiling dragon
First one I read was TDG but I did read CD and Doulou dalu as a manga. Then I found out that they are light novels also and started reading them. After that I have been addicted to these novels :D
Coiling Dragon! Tomatoes all day, son.
I started with Coiling dragon too .... its what most of us did.
Against the Gods (逆天邪神) ............
SISOU That was my second book! I used to really like it but nowadays it just seems a bit... meh, especially when compared to, say, Mao Ni's novels
ST by he-man then continued by RWX
Merchenary Me too.
Definitely Stellar Transformations by he-man. Anyone else feel a slight 'generational' gap?
Tales of demons and gods
Tales of demons and gods
[unknown] true :(
TDG! almost everyone started with TDG OR CD OR DOULOU DALU...... maybe these novels are the progenitor of CN
The gate of good fortune
Coiling Dragon
Coiling Dragon
The first one was Douluo Dalu. I discovered with the Douluo Dalu II manhua, and when I kept with the translation, I decided to read the first one. Afterwards, I read the novel and love it !
coiling Dragon and I shall seal the heavens. was confused as fuck when i read issth because of the cultivation and stuff. CD was easier as it had more western rank theme .
[unknown] The first CN novel I've read was In Different World with Naruto System lol...
It wasn't a groundbreaking novel, however I read it like it was the Bible cause of, well... the Naruto System.
At first I found the phrase "I, your father" very weird, but over time I got used to it.
Same with the oh-so-handsome MC... at first I was put off, but the jutsus were able to pull my mind out of the quagmire.
Now that I've read some of Er Gen's and IET's novels, (+ a few more decent ones) I can confidently say that I've seen the highs and lows of the CN novels... lel
if all media types are counted then Doulou Dalu manhua. First written novel would be ISSTH.
Coiling dragon a.k.a the intro novel
Necrolord
Same here ...
My first one was Stellar Transformations back when He-man began translating it, followed by Coiling Dragon on the same forum, though Coiling Dragon was obviously the first one I finished reading.
First one i read was DE and i really liked it .My second one as CD,the best i can say till now
JunkieOverThe_Moon TDG came very late
Japanese novel Mahouka, then TDG, then korean novel EER. Then ISSTH and CD.
After that it was whatever on Qi/WW/novelupdatesTopRank
First chinese stories I read would be "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and "The Water Margin". If you haven't read those, I strongly suggest finding them. I am sure you can get them free on the web on any number of sites for classics. First modern chinese story I read was the earlier parts of "Demi Gods and Semi Devils", I believe more has been released since I stopped reading that. First wn was "Zhan Long". Since it gets translated at a rate of 1/week and the story is 1350 chapters long, it is still not translated, but I fed everything after chapter 200ish through systranet and slogged my way through that. Loved that story, have been a sucker for VR stories since. Issue is, most of them are garbage.
Coiling dragon
The first that i read
