I've been reading TTNH and OEM which they are translating. About a month ago they promised mass release of OEM and then disappeared. Then there were sporadic releases of OEM and TTNH. But now they simply have disappeared. More than a week has passed and no update from them. Are they alright? Has something happened? Any info?
What happened with Novel Saga?
TheTheos New translators will take it over and speed up releasing of TTNH and OEM

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL I think you need to have some guidelines or a system for your translators that they must follow so as to make it easier for the next translator to take over and not butcher the translation. Which generally happens when a new translator takes over even when they have weeks to look over it (like Swallowed Star). Some of the novels have thousands of chapters and it's inevitable that a novel which will take years to be translated to change translators, so instead of handling the problems as they come, you should make it so that there is a unified guidline which will be followed by all translators in this site so that when they eventually have to stop due to whatever reason, the next translators work won't look like it's been done by aliens to the readers. You should look at it as an inevitablity and prepare for translator changes. In the current model you have, it feels more like the need to pump out as many chapters as possible is more important than the quality, stability or consistency. You should have higher standards...
Wow, that was unexpected. Hopefully good translator/s pick them up. And good luck to Novel Saga in their future endeavors.
At least you can put hiatus status on novel that don't have translator but will get the new one.
And dropped for novel that already don't have any chapter updated for 3-4 months
N0xiety
I do remember that happening to TTNH. When novel saga first took it over, translation was horrible.
I mean MTL level horrible. I hope same thing won't happen to TTNH again.
I remeber novesaga making a post about oem going premium in june or july, but when your release rate is not even 7 per week what does premium offer.
WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Is there a timeframe of when the new translators will start releasing chapters ?
Are we to expect chapters mid October, November, December?
Having a semi time frame would help to passify the readers.
CKtalon So are you really saying that it is impossible to say that we are to expect nothing for the next 1-2 months ? Since that is what I want to know, do we expect something within 3-4 weeks or maybe nothing until 2019 ?
Surely this is not asking to much to have a rough time frame in mind for when the new TL will be ready to release chapters..
CKtalon If that is the case, I have to say that I am sorely disappointed and let down.
If it takes more than 2 months for Paid translators that is an utter joke. I speak 7 languages and have translated official documents for sporting clubs in 3 different languages and never would I ever get another assignment if I said that it would take me more than a week to get something done(that I am getting paid to do....)
I hope that the translators are not that inept that it takes them 6 months to continue, the longest time frame that is barely acceptable would be 1 month at most.
OEM is good but it has been passed around some before here too in terms of translators. More chapters would definetly be a welcome surprise....
CKtalon I still say that if it takes more than a month, the translators are either inept or just not doing their job, that's just a fact.
Let's not be unrealistic and expect 8 hours of work a day, let's say 5 hours a day of work that you are paid to do, 5x7=35 hours of translation a week per person working in the group, now let's add in proof reading and editing too which would probably take half the time, so the time limit of 5 weeks(1month) would give the translation group a total of 175 hours(Xnumber of people in the TL group) working on the project per month, I just refuse to believe that that isn't enough time to get started.
If it isn't then the translation group is frankly just inept.

KingDerp You are being too idealistic, that's all I can say.
They need to build up at least 40 chapters. That will take about 3 weeks to a month. Before they can continue, they will need to pass Quality Assurance, which will take anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month based on the availability of the QA team. Again, novels are a case where too many cooks spoil the broth, so it doesn't matter how many translators are thrown at a particular novel.
After that, they will then be permitted to continue, which takes however many weeks for them to amass something that they are comfortable enough before they begin releasing again.

CKtalon No, I am just used to people actually doing their work on time and standards being kept.
I will just say that if QI were situated in my country, I am betting that almost every single TL group would have either been fined a months pay for failing to meet quota's or just straight up fired for ineptitude.
The most important aspect of a company is their PR, I am guessing that QI has never heard of that before ? Atleast considering how abysmal they are at it. Anyway point being, all the readers are already pissed off about slow releases. And now QI decides for no good reason to fire the TL group and because of that we the customers have to experience more delays and setbacks that frankly are unacceptable and will result in many not wanting to contribute to QI's novels.
I just find it amazing that paid TL groups actually take that long to get started, either they are on almost no pay at all with QI taking all the profit (which wouldn't surprise me at all...) or they are a bunch of lazy inept pos's. Now you tell me which one is it ?
KingDerp They are paid quite okay. I'm in charge of a translator group myself. As I said, many would rather choose to build up a stockpile which Qidian will continuously pay once it's done; instead of immediately releasing to the public once a few chapters are done.
Webnovel itself has like thousands of chapters that have been done and paid without being released up to now.
6 months to pickup a novel? What a joke. I could learn chinese in 6 months and use the MTL as a guide and start releasing chapters by then. Whatever is holding it back, sorry, but that is still way too slow.
