  • Homophobes on Webnovel

So, as some of you know I am writing a BL book. However, if you ask anyone of my readers you realise that my book doesn't have any smut content. In fact, I am 60 chapters in and no one has so much as kissed. What the book has discussed however is bullying, overcoming adversity as well as being true to yourself as a human.

There is some sword fighting, magic, pets and system. Besides my constant grammar mistakes, most people say it is a pretty good book.

Then there are a few people who ruin it for everyone. I no have two 1 star reviews both have come from people who are homophobic. How can I tell? The first one-star review I received was left blank. I checked through their previous comments and they also 1 star reviewed another BL book. The second was a little more blatant they simply wrote " BL Sucks" Over and over again.

Now I have reported them both because they have done a number on my ratings for no reason but I have to simply ask... "Why do people bother to do this?" Why go out of your way to 1 star a book that wasn't intended for you? Are people like this so uncomfortable in their own sexualities that they have to go out of their way to prove how straight they are? I mean.. it is pretty sad.

I would like to thank most of the community for being amazing and inclusive just like web novel intended but to the few who cant please don't try to ruin other peoples hard work on a whim before you are uncomfortable. I mean I have worked really hard on my book. It is super unfair to see hours and hours of my work given unfair ratings just cause you wanna prove your straight.

I hope the admins see this and do something about those ratings. I would hate to think you allow bullying.

    Transparency I am against homosexuality myself, but no one should ever let such cause them to downrate a book, if I reviewed the novel, I would read my normal 5 chapters, rate each area based on how well you did, regardless of my preferences, then let you know I would not continue reading it due to me not liking the type of story you made, but still complimenting you on any arias I feel you should be complimented on.
    People like that give people like me a bad rap, there is being against homosexuality, and being just downright rude to homosexuals... those are very different things... link this comment to those haters.;,;. I wanna see how they react.;,;.

        DeJeL Regardless of what you feel on the topic you looked at the book and gave it a fair review. That is all I could ask for. I just hope other people with feelings like yours do as you do and keep their mouths closed. I mean it's not hard and the people who are GLBTI in the community will at least feel welcome to read the books they like. I have straight male readers who enjoy the book too. You don't have to be gay to enjoy a Shounen Ai book. I mean imagine if all the female readers who didn't like harem books went around and 1 starred them because it is not for their demographic... stupid right.

          Transparency its is not just bl novels. Other retards that disslike the genre will give a 1 star since they dont like romance, historical, etc. But BL takes the brunt of it due to obvious reasons. I personally dont give a damn about ones beliefs or sexuality, as long as no one is hurt im fine. But honestly it wont go away anytime soon, if ever. A wise sage once said "the haters gonna hate", but you sir must "shake, shake, shake it off". You go shake off the haters son!

              Dontlookdown You are not wrong. It is just sad and it ruins it for other people. I can only speak for my own experiences but I know there are some really nasty people out there. All I can do is say my piece and hope the 1-star reviews stop. I just couldn't sit on my hands and do nothing. I'm not angry or anything just pretty disappointed that a few people are ruining webnovel for everyone. People get enough bullying at school and in their homes. Why make this place toxic too.

                Transparency There are a lot of mean people who hide behind the curtains of the internet. I give you a virtual hug. I contain homosexuality in my novel as well and was actually really worried when I made a few characters like that. I worried that some readers would be turned off by it.

                I have no idea if it shooed some readers away or not, but I don't care. It is my vision that everyone is equal. Don't let it discourage you! Keep at it! Ganbatte!

                Also, if I was reading a BL book, I would want that smut! But... that's just me hehehe.

                    Transparency Baby you are living in the world, you don't expect for everything to be "happily ever after" people are gotton talk, both Fans or Hater about Good or Bad who are you to limit that,... "Opinion" will always be a free gift from God.

                        BabyTanuki Yeah for me I just wanted to write something that made a gay male lead a hero for a younger audience. I think smut had its place, in fact, I don't mind reading content like that sometimes. My novels theme is overcoming adversity.

                        I am glad you added it to your book anyway. It is nice to see a variety of content on Webnovel. It would be boring to read the same book with a different cover :P

                          MadamLisha21 It's not an opinion if they didn't read the book in the first place. It is a commentary on their feelings on GLBTI and not on my book. There is a difference there.

                                  honestly, I don't get why people can be AGAINST lgbtq+.
                                  I don't go out and support it openly, but I just treat it as another belief/characteristic. think my moral code is to let just people do what makes them happy. it's almost like religion-- I'm christian-- but if someone says that the're buddhist, I'm not going to go out and shun them for believing what they believe. or even, if I have brown hair and someone else has blonde hair, I'm not going to put them down or be against them because they have a different hair color. I don't get why there are people who would do that. :/

                                      This not only happens for BL but for pretty much anything someone does like about a novel, its stupid to rant about them or report them cuase its gonna keep happening. People gonna hate

                                        This is infact common in novels with BL or harem. People give 1 star without reading by creating fake accs.

                                        Some even give 1 star because they are 'bored'. They write something like '140 words, boooring.............' or something similar

                                          As an author you need to teach yourself to have thick skin. Nothing you write is going to please 100% of your readers, and the fact that it is being read online naturally exposes it to the internet. We all know how shitty people are on the internet. Is this really any surprise? C'mon now... Learn to ignore the reviews that deserve ignoring, and learn from the reviews worth learning from. There is no story that will ever legitimately reach 5 stars, dont care about a couple 1 star reviews. Is it seriously worth complaining about???
