14 or 13 stones per chapter?
Thats more expensive than "Release that witch" which I already find high end.
Thank you for the high prices!
Now I have to take a break from a great novel.
And who knows if or when Im going back to it.
Maybe lower the price a little if you still want as many readers.

PieDuck All novels in Webnovel has the same price. 1 Spirit Stones for 200 words. That means the story is longer. (I don't know whether that was round up or round down).

Else if it is priced per chapter, author/translator would sell in short story instead. 100 word/chapter and sold them as 1 SS/chapter instead. Seems cheap but less content.

Mmm read a few chapters and make sure they arnt page stuffing. Ss goes up by word count I believe. Average book consist of about 100,000-175,000. Which are marketed for around 3-25$ depending of its electronic, paperback, hardback. Qidan wants .02cents for each word while main stream books are far cheaper. If ss matches kindle in terms of prices I'd be more interested myself in purchasing stones.

      Let's go with bare minimum 25$book with 100,000 words. 0.00025 a word.

Let's make that more specific using a well known title. 76,944 words in the sorcerers stone harry potter novel which that paper book copy sales for 8.87$ That's 0.0001152786 a word...

PieDuck when it comes between quality and quantity, of course they'll choose the one that ends with tity.

MasterRabbink Say for a novel with around 80000 words, and at the rate of $1/50 SS, (assuming you spend your free SS elsewhere), that's a solid $80 (80000/(2005) 1).

$80 for a smallish web novel with questionable editing and grammar.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone has 79,500 words and is around $10 or so. Of course the platform is fucked right in the butt

Wow, for some reason the title sounds really deep and philosophical.

Yes, at what cost. Do they want to take away all our money? Take away our time, and our right to worship, what's next, our VERY LIVES?!?!

          Skyrim belongs to the nords!

          Dvaita
I think if someone goes premium he can editor from Qidian International right? that will solve grammar problem
As for spirit stones, i agree with you... author should have the right to decide the price because each novel have different quality

Yeah... they truly do charge way too much per word, but that's not even the worst of it.
When a novel is getting popular, at first they let the new chapters be free, but then boom! They turn 80-90% of the available free chapters into premium chapters.
It's a frikkin scam at this point.
An example of that would be the MMORPG: Rebirth of the Legendary Guardian web novel. The chapters were free up to around the 600s, then then suddenly one day, before the series was fully translated and posted, all chapters other than the first 100 chapters became premium, making it so that one would need 200$ minimum just to get back to the point where the free chapters used to be. THAT is way too overpriced!
(Even more so when considering that the English in it wasn't even that good and that there was a lot of repetitions and over-explanations of stuff just to fill the word count in that series, which in turn made all of its premium chapters more expensive.)

Adolfo13 Nope. Not all contracted novels get an editor. It is included in 'operating' cost.

PieDuck Bruh try to read The legend of Ling Tian when a chapter is from 20-27 stones :D

just give up on it...i did, i gave up on a lot of premium novels

Dvaita Your math is a bit off.

Sure, let's go with the worst ratio. 1$ = 50 SS

                    1 SS = 200 words

                    80,000 words / 200 words = 400 SS

                    400 SS / 50 SS = 8$.

An 80,000 word story would cost 8$, at the worst SS ratio.

Dontlookdown If an average book is ~80k words, then the price of an average book length of writing on WN is $8.

You should look at WebNovels as a long series of multiple books and sequels, not just a single book.

No one expects to pay 8$ for the entire Harry Potter series, 1 million+ words of writing.

This is why i find you sheep funny ,you support the system that is buttfucking you with overpriced below average novels from random writers writing their first novel ,and novels they know you can never read unless you pay them well i say no fuck you and your free SS ,The only novel i read from them on this website is Fishing cause it still has ads and a chapter costs 4ss,everything else goes to the fight club ! join the fight fuck the system
