Why does Webnovel want to access the devices location? Sounds sketchy.
Why location?
AzurePanda Authors get a little world map of what countries their readers come from. I reckon webnovel cares more about what country you are in over anything else, it helps them understand the demographics of the people who use webnovel so they can adjust their business strategy etc. But don't quote me on this.
Someone should open a translation business and sell books on hardback. Business opportunity is there now that this is on the rise and premium has become standard. (I’d rather pay 60 usd for a hardback vs paying 110usd for webnovels permission to read.)
And yes I believe you are correct about it pinging to collect data for the consumer base. Uncomfortable but nothing unethical.
AzurePanda I actually like the location feature. I found out a lot of my readers are from the Philippines. I put in a creature from that area to make them be able to relate to it. It is a fun thing for me to look around the world and find different influences that I can incorporate into my novel.
BabyTanuki hi, sorry, but I just wanted to confirm this. Please, how do you know when the people you're communicating with are legit. I got contacted by webnovel, and yes, we've been having some discussions and all, but I'm scared that it might be a scam. How can you tell if you're speaking to someone legit or not.
