Interesting surprisingly i sat through and read all of this. Well if it's 1 think QI would learn. At the international level the :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: is 800% more hotter than in China. Because QI be getting grilled internationally. Not only that it ruins their opinion INTERNATIONALLY as well. Whether this is rigged or not, Whether QI give a full real story or not it ruins them. Besides if they wanted to send a translator to China it woulda been MUCH easier just to email someone randomly and give them a heads up of what they plan to do. Also if QI was doing this to make themselves look good whether hook or crook it still leaves an INTERNATIONALLY bad reputation and "review" Oh well i'm tired asf now and don't got the brains to continue thinking into this.

mud7 Thanks. Well, I never like to participate in such type of competition ever because most of them turn out to be scam. But I liked the competition produced by QI as we all can see who is the organizer, who are the participants and there is some authenticity behind the competition. As for the reason I gave back then when my father cancelled two of my trips. It may sound unreasonable when I say it like this but the reasons behind them bring some negative thoughts in me as one of those trips is for my Interview. So, I just wanted to go out anywhere and QI gives me that opportunity at that time but who will have thought in the end it comes back to the point which I hate the most. No trips. But whatever, thanks KingBibik for writing this and I have read it all. I have a lot of free time nowadays.

It is edited very few people may have noticed this point but QI has already mentioned in the competition rules that you have to persuade 'People' in place of 'Readers'. So, it has already been decided beforehand that new users are accepted in the competition.

I'll just comment on the stuff where I was mentioned.

They did not have the winner in mind when they ran the competition. For instance, before the competition was announced, I already mentioned that I will be there. I later found out that the competition actually has better perks than what I have, such as a visit to Shanghai, with lodging and air tickets covered. I did joke with them that maybe I should participate in it to get the better perks. They said go ahead, but I didn't because it was probably for the best not to do so, since it will incur criticism. My line of thinking was that I already had a partial invitation and it's better to leave it to the readers. They didn't expect Meh to win when they did the calculations.

As you can see from our conversations, it was quite unexpected that Meh won and the QI staff was very afraid that readers would stir it into a drama about it being some unethical competition...which kind of just happened.

As you can tell, the competition was planned very last-minute. The event is in less than 3 weeks. I gave them some ideas what to do, such as a 'scavenger hunt' on the website but that was just too complicated to do with the tight time constraints.

In the future, the rules will be probably be made more clear, such as TLs/EDs are not eligible, etc.

Also, I don't think any of the Qidian-contracted translators and editors joined the Beyond the Language competition. You might have misunderstood by what I said, but some translators and editors helped in giving comments on the novel submissions to aid the Editors in shortlisting novels. Ultimate decision is theirs.

King, it is a shame that you didn't win the competition but I feel, as you have so beautifully put, won something else. Whether or not QI had some underhanded dealings in this competition it takes courage to speak out as you have done. Happy new year and all the best going forward, your financial situation is something you can and will change :)

I don't know anything about this comp but a rule if thumb is corporations are evil and they want your money #conspiracy

For real though, it's a shame a reader couldn't win. Imo it was a bad move to allow tl to participate. It's like if a radio show had a competition and one of the hosts won.

It's quite a shame that the sponsored 'winner' by the Snowman Clan didn't win... But at least you're still a part of us now because of it! So what would you like your snowman to have? Look at ucoqid's (squiddy) snowman! It's so cute:

http://prntscr.com/hu5rsc (SEE THAT? oml... so cute!) Come onto the Discord server again so we can make it together! :3

I don't know everything about the competition and whether there were under-handed transactions and whatnot, so I can't really comment on that, but there is at least one thing that's true. You made new friends and joined the Snowman Clan (the best clan)! It's as @Cilliez said!

Neverfire7 looks like to me you start to accept your snowman avatar even though you keep complaint. adorable guy.

          Cilliez very cute indeed.

KingBiBiK its ucoqid not ucoqiud πŸ˜… no matter how the facts really is, at least you told us hows your feeling. don't worry about it. i joined the mess when it nearly at the end, so i have not an opinion. come to clan channel more often.

The reasoning for the name is because I was singing the "Do you wanna build a snowman?" But instead said "Do you wanna build a (snowman) Clan?" And some random dude picked up on "Snowman Clan" he was like "Snowman clan?" And then everyone started using it as well. And I'm not gonna be the bearer of bad news and be like "No... not allowed!" So it became the Snowman Clan....

But I love the picture lol! And the movie, I've never watched it but we may have to give it a shot :D xD

OOOOO Clan uniform... I should design something... Like a white robe or something, that would be so cool!

N0xiety Well, it's one of many reasons why there are so many novel about shamelessness in qidian, some type of Brainwashing i guess -

CKtalon Tbh it does seem unfair to me that translators can win as more people will vote for them if they read their translations.

It doesn't even need to be intentionally rigged, though as long as he didn't post a chapter note asking for votes i'm fine with the end result as nobody broke rules, but like you said hopefully next time there's an exclusion of translators/editors.

Mute They didn't really think it through as they were in a rush to begin the competition (considering the VISA issues) and by the time they realized that it might be unfair, it was a little too late. Meh did not seem like he would win either. If you see the last 24 hours thread, Meh was ranked third with quite a sizable gap from @KingBiBiK
