            Definitely read Daedalus, it's the best original novel I've seen on here. It might look like it has been dropped but the author is just taking a break, kinda like you. He should be back in January.

            The story is about a young prodigy in a futuristic mecha setting where he is thrust into a military world full of political turmoil where he must learn as much as he can to help him to survive against an alien threat. There is a diverse main cast with distinct personalities and there is a surprising amount of females for a military setting. In fact, the main characters group has more females than males. They are all realistic characters with flaws that feel like real people.

            The main selling point of the novel for me is that the author puts a lot of effort into making his story believable. There are a lot of small things he does that puts him above most published authors. I rarely notice any grammar issues and I can tell he takes pride in his work.
