There are many stories in the historical romance genre which are well-received on Webnovel.

A month ago, most of the books on Webnovel had an eastern history background. This is maybe a result of having Webnovel's first historical romance books translated from Chinese. However, we have recently welcomed many well-liked works from Wattpad. A number of them are historical romance stories set in a western background. We discovered that historical romance with western backgrounds are more well-received by readers.

We believe it has to do with western history being more easily comprehensivle to most readers (a large number of Webnovel readers find western historical settings more understandable due to their nationalities, i.e., being more attuned with western history and culture). For new writers, using a historical background you are more familiar with would make it easier for your story's logic to be more complete. It will also resonate more easily with yourself. This will not only make you happier and have an easier time writing, but it can also spread your country's history and culture. As such, we encourage everyone to create a historical romance story with your own country's history as the setting.

Writing Prompts Contest #40：My Planet

The inspiration for this writing prompt stems from a story that is currently paused: My Mini Planet. Having a personal planet and being able to explore or build on it as one pleases is something filled with fun. It's just like a child building a sand castle on a beach - it requires plenty of curiosity, patience, and imagination.

Think about it - an ordinary main character who's busy with their studies and life now suddenly possesses a planet of thier own - this planet might exist within their personal pocket dimension, or within another timeline, or within reality. It can be any type of special creation that you imagine. Now then, how will the main character treat this gift from heaven? Now, use your imagination to write it down in a story!

How to join

When you create your new novel, you can choose any genre that you wish. Then, the writing contest options will appear. Choose the [Writing Prompts Contest #39：Historical Romance] or [Writing Prompts Contest #40：My Planet] option in order to participate in this contest.

Rules

1.The main topic of your novel should be Historical Romance or My Planet. Otherwise, it shall be treated as an invalid entry.
2.Your story entered in the contest must be your own original work, with the copyright held by you. No plagiarism is allowed.
3.The contest will take place from December 17, 2018 to December 23, 2018 (GMT +8).
4.The story must not contain any racial or religious discrimination against any other cultures or their lifestyles.
5.Only newly-created original novels shall be allowed to enter the contest.
6.Webnovel reserves the right of final interpretation for all stories submitted in this contest.

              Good evening, I would like to ask if we have to write our first novel in English. Maybe it sounds like a silly question but it's relevant to author whose English is not their mother tongue.
              I could try to translate from my own language (or I could even try to write directly in English), but it goes without saying that I would spend to much effort and time.

                  My entry for the My Planet prompt. Taking a little different approach here, using an urban fantasy setting where magic and sorcerers all live in the modern world in secrecy. In that world, the MC is an assassin that hunts sorcerers that break laws, and he has the unique power of having his own personal planet within him which he can take things in and out from. With it, he will have to face magics from various different cultures ranging from demons to qi cultivators and witches.

                        This will be my entry for the Writing Prompts Contest #40: My Planet. This will be the first novel I will be writing and this will be also my first time participating on a contest.

When I read it for the first time I didn't automatically connect the two as the same person. BUT! Besides that I really like your idea!
