SMK08 There are many forums like this where we swap novels with each other and review. That way we help each other and in turn help ourselves.
What is your collection to views ratio?
So, a month ago my collection to views ratio was about 1:226. I couldn't update my novel for a month due to my exams and now my ratio changed to 1:302 ( the collections remained the exact same but the views increased drastically) T_T lesson learned
niharikabhol This is something normal in the beginning, I've been through it, like having only 10 or 20 collections and more than 50k views for several days. But only with hard work will you be able to increase those numbers.
If I compare your novel to mine by the time you're writing, yours is in a better position than mine in a month of release.
I had to write for a year to get the amount of readers I have today, so getting more readers requires a lot of dedication. But there are exceptions that I will not comment on.
Another thing that can help to get readers is to go for trends or appear in daily updates. But this will need to send a message to Edgarry in the discord.
But the most important thing for a writer is dedication and hard work, because it is really difficult to succeed in a short time, unless you are really very good.
_chomps Thanks for explaining and understanding my concerns and for your solidarity.
This might sound stupid but what do you mean by -> go for trends or appear in daily updates?
niharikabhol this thread may explain better
https://forum.webnovel.com/d/9970-trending-and-daily-updates-novels
niharikabhol your novel is in the trends of the first page
_chomps Really? How to check that?
niharikabhol In webnovel site, main page, Just down
_chomps Got it. Thanks a lot :)
Please Do check out my entry in Contest 58
DreamX Please stop spamming your novel in a thread that is not for it. It is already the second time, check the countless other threads dedicated to this purpose (namely the Shameless One, arguably the best).
110k views, 159 collections -> 1:691
Apparently, Satan was useless. Does someone know the number of C'thulu?
Went through the first 100 posts or so but couldn't figure out if a high ratio was good or not lol.
Anyone care to digress?
My ratio is 399.5 (1,426,000 vierws / 3569 collections).
I feel like a lower ratio would be better yes?
And I'm sure someone pointed this out already, but for novels with more chapters (mine has over 180 as of today), the views would be higher than usual.
shinigami8671 Well, <200 and it's an excellent ratio. Between 200 and 300, a good ratio and >400 is a bad ratio. You are at the limit. And well, even if views are higher for a novel with more chapters, it doesn't really matter. The ratio is still relevant, because yes you have more people that just browse your front page, but you should still be able to gain some new readers from this.
Also, the ratio depends on your type of novel. If it is BL or some gore stuff, well fewer people will follow. I am certain that "Super Harem in Trash Anime Sect with Instant Mastery System Cheat" will have a high views/collection mainly because people that are disgusted by this will never even bother to look and those that love it will instantly follow. (yes, I belong to the first group).
niharikabhol
Wokay, appeal to swap coming right up in the other thread!!
Since it remains on this site, mind as well keep track of its meanderings.
Zaldizko {BL} Ratio 377:1↓39 from last post.
I'm surprised the drop isn't so harsh. I was expecting the worst for this book.
Queen of Performing Arts
7762:74 or 105:1
Yesterday was my first month so I can understand why the ratio is somehow positive. I also only have eight chapters. Soon, I'm quite sure it'll be way way worse...
265:1 bad and bad >3<=\
I have a ratio of 23.3k views/ 177collections.
Is it a good ratio????
One question, does anyone of you also suffer from people leaving from the collection? Let's say it was X today and tomorrow it's like X-20 or something like that.
Does it drop because people aren't interested in my work anymore and removing the book from the library? It is so so hurtful :( :(

niharikabhol If your fiction is added to any of the major lists (trending, daily, etc) people usualy see the cover then add it to their collection without reading any chapters. Then, when they do have the time to read, they find that the story isn’t for them. So most likely it doesn’t have anything to do with whether they stopped liking your story (unless your latest chapter contains something controversial, i imagine). Another thing that might do it is if you haven’t posted anything for a long while and they think you went on hiatus. It’s normal to lose one person or so, but losing a lot of people at once is probably from one of the above reasons.
Oh yeah, you have definitely been in one of the lists. I can tell because your story is in my library but I have yet to read it or find out if it would be my cup of tea (yes, i am guilty if adding things to my library without reading the first chapter)

niharikabhol yep. I bleed collections everyday. Try not to let it get you down, since any number of reasons could lead to a drop, technical included.
niharikabhol yeahh.. my story is up and down too, but I just think positively... that my story isn't their cup of tea
Veronica8 true there are too many reasons for collection drop. Sometimes I also added first before reading. If it's not my cup of tea, I will remove it from my library. I reckon other people would also be like that.
Reckeva thanks for throwing light on the issue. Now I get it.
Superlike your answer
missoline87 that's a really positive way to look at it. Will definitely try.
Cheers
missoline87 Me too. Everyone has their own preferences. It's all good. I'm also thrilled that my outer package (cover + blurb) was enough to entice interest. That's a big win for me too
Does anyone here have idea how the novels get featured? I am writing regularly. My word count is also > 1k per chapter. Do they randomly select people or how? I see many novels with hardly 5-10 chapters, no cover, no rating also getting featured. My ratings are also ok, thanks to the support of many of you. Why can't my novel be featured?
P.S. Mine was featured just once and never after that ....
niharikabhol Many a time people just add it to their library and keep it there to read it in future. They forget about it and all of a sudden pick it up one day and binge read it:) So don't worry that might also happen.
Sometimes people drop it after reading a few chapters. It's a phase every author faces.
