What is your collection to views ratio?
Since it remains on this site, mind as well keep track of its meanderings.
Zaldizko {BL} Ratio 377:1β39 from last post.
I'm surprised the drop isn't so harsh. I was expecting the worst for this book.
Queen of Performing Arts
7762:74 or 105:1
Yesterday was my first month so I can understand why the ratio is somehow positive. I also only have eight chapters. Soon, I'm quite sure it'll be way way worse...
265:1 bad and bad >3<=\
I have a ratio of 23.3k views/ 177collections.
Is it a good ratio????
One question, does anyone of you also suffer from people leaving from the collection? Let's say it was X today and tomorrow it's like X-20 or something like that.
Does it drop because people aren't interested in my work anymore and removing the book from the library? It is so so hurtful :( :(

niharikabhol If your fiction is added to any of the major lists (trending, daily, etc) people usualy see the cover then add it to their collection without reading any chapters. Then, when they do have the time to read, they find that the story isnβt for them. So most likely it doesnβt have anything to do with whether they stopped liking your story (unless your latest chapter contains something controversial, i imagine). Another thing that might do it is if you havenβt posted anything for a long while and they think you went on hiatus. Itβs normal to lose one person or so, but losing a lot of people at once is probably from one of the above reasons.
Oh yeah, you have definitely been in one of the lists. I can tell because your story is in my library but I have yet to read it or find out if it would be my cup of tea (yes, i am guilty if adding things to my library without reading the first chapter)

niharikabhol yep. I bleed collections everyday. Try not to let it get you down, since any number of reasons could lead to a drop, technical included.
niharikabhol yeahh.. my story is up and down too, but I just think positively... that my story isn't their cup of tea
Veronica8 true there are too many reasons for collection drop. Sometimes I also added first before reading. If it's not my cup of tea, I will remove it from my library. I reckon other people would also be like that.
Reckeva thanks for throwing light on the issue. Now I get it.
Superlike your answer
missoline87 that's a really positive way to look at it. Will definitely try.
Cheers
missoline87 Me too. Everyone has their own preferences. It's all good. I'm also thrilled that my outer package (cover + blurb) was enough to entice interest. That's a big win for me too
Does anyone here have idea how the novels get featured? I am writing regularly. My word count is also > 1k per chapter. Do they randomly select people or how? I see many novels with hardly 5-10 chapters, no cover, no rating also getting featured. My ratings are also ok, thanks to the support of many of you. Why can't my novel be featured?
P.S. Mine was featured just once and never after that ....
niharikabhol Many a time people just add it to their library and keep it there to read it in future. They forget about it and all of a sudden pick it up one day and binge read it:) So don't worry that might also happen.
Sometimes people drop it after reading a few chapters. It's a phase every author faces.
niharikabhol ye, but i don't blame though. i also do that, but not because i'm not interested-- it's because i'm not in the mood to read this genre or whatnot.
MishaK Yeah I get that now. Actually I have just recently started with my novel. And I don't have much idea how webnovel works. So when I was worried I thought I could ask you guys. Thanks for helping me out.
Reinesse That's totally true.
honestly speaking, i rarely experience collection dropping cause:
- it's prolly stuck in their library and there's a probability that 60% aren't reading the novel at all
- it can easily be mistalen as a translated novel they're not in the mood to read
- it's not yet time for library cleanung
- the number collections i have is too low
niharikabhol Trending is by PM a mod in the Discord Server and asking for it. Daily Updates is Random.
But sometimes you are lucky, sometimes you are not. For the Daily Updates, past the 10k? 20k? 25k? words necessary, it is a free-for-all. Trending is for not contracted (at least was a few months ago) and asking a mod in the Discord Server (found here https://discordapp.com/invite/AeYDMQw ).
Rest like Lady Pick, New to Webnovel and such (everything above Trending) is for contracted novels only. That's why you will see "Flowers Bloom from Battlefield" like, every day.
As for ratio don't worry too much. It can go up and it can go down. But if you keep writing, in the end, all the readers that would have liked your novel will find it, today or maybe in a month.

Zaldizko {BL} Ratio 383:1β6 from last post.
I've gained some awesome reviews that made some shiny stars to appear next to the title. A happy cat
Been a while since I last posted, but nothing much as changed. How does one get collections? Iβve only had two people drop after I didnβt update for a while, but besides that, Iβm basically stuck under 20 collections even though Iβm almost at 18k views.
Ratio is at 1193:1. I donβt think my story is bad or weird lol, but why am I consistently getting 4-500 some views a day but not a single collection? Literally getting only 1 collection every several days. I donβt really promote it anywhere, but even during the short period I did, nothing much changed. (Very grateful for the review swaps though.)
Anyone have any idea why?
@Veronica8 @Reinesse @Innovation @Reckeva
Hiii guys I have a question for you. Might sound a stupid though. I want to do a mass release of around 5 chapters of my novel. What is the process for that? Can I just normally upload five chapters one by one? OR THERE IS SOME MASS RELEASE PROCEDURE?
niharikabhol I think you just post them like normal but within a few minutes of each other, but make sure you release each chapter in order. Webnovel doesnt let you reorder the chapters, so itβll be a pain to have to delete the chapters then repost them.
niharikabhol Like Reckeva said, and be careful about your chapters and let some minutes between each other. Inkstone sometimes has a hard time with 3+ chapters posted in less than 5 minutes and can miss one, forcing you to manually delete the chapters, salvage the draft and repost it again. I would advise you to set the time between each chapter to be 5 min. Like Chapter 7: Random Things at 5: 00; Chapter 8: Random Things Part II at 5: 05.
Otherwise no, there is absolutely no special feature for mass release. There are only four things on Inkstone:
-creating a volume with a name
-creating a normal chapter
-creating an auxiliary chapter (when you are on the writing of a chapter, see at the top, there is a small flag with Normal, click on it and you can choose auxiliary chapter)
-creating a footnote.
Anyway, 715 of ratio now. I am quite baffled now. Is it because my MC is a Female and the genre, not a Romance? Who knows?
niharikabhol just dump 'em all at once
Reckeva wao didn't know this.
@Innovation @Reckeva @Reinesse
Thank you all. I have a fair idea now
You guys are so supportive and awesome. We are like unknown people sitting away in the farthest corners of the world. But the way you guys have always helped and motivated me is just amazing.
Love you all guys
Acutelittletrap :O :O :O
niharikabhol Like what all the others have said. You need to keep in mind that the timestamp dictates the chapter order. So, if you're posting 5 a time, do it with about 5 minute breaks in between to be sure the order is correct.
