SarahWeaver6 Holy cow, Flalaiku sounds damn awesome!

And I think the mixing is really cool. It adds originality and style to ones writing. I can see how it’s more difficult to translate across cultures, but honestly I think it would do a lot of good to open up people’s eyes to other cultures and histories.

130k for 182 collections -> 714 ratio. It's an improvement. A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

10,000 reads but slightly less collection to reads, compared to my older novella. Although that's to be expected. Prequels, I've heard, don't tend to get as many reads as the main novella.

mine is 97:1, 8 decrease from the previous one.

perks of slowly growing, i guess? and few chapters and slow updates. and romance novel.

    Today's batch.

    Zaldizko {BL} Ratio 365:1 ↑8

    To My Sunflower {BL} 447:1↓24
Suspect having it on temporary hold doesn't help. I really need to fix up the timelines, so happy with the sacrifice.

    To Like A Man {BL} 443:1↑93
Wow. I'm gobsmacked. Is it because I gave a shout-out to the Philippines in one of the posts?

Reinesse Nice! Although I wouldn’t think firsthand that slow updates would help, but I guess I can see how when it’s new.

Romance novel eh? Maybe I should just switch over my genre to romance since it technically will have romance... lol just joking, but it is almost half tempting.

For a popular genre though, it’s interesting how the huge number of novels under it doesn’t detract from people finding them and picking them up to read!

Fantasy seems popular too, but maybe it’s so broad? Because I had 2 collections for the longest time after starting. XD

Chryiss it's easier to assume that there are more romance novels but in actuality, there are more fantasy. i'm actually surprised that i have a few readers even if i don't have any ceo on it.

          Update as of 22/03/2019
          Ratio: 201:1
I think it is worsening. Idk what to do for increasing collections. Can anybody give tips?

Reinesse Yup! There seems to be more fantasy titles (although it’s the romance ones that get contracted most), but in terms of reader popularity, they don’t seem to seek them out as much as romance.

            PoppyQueen Which book is that?

PoppyQueen is this Crimson Love? Strange, since the interest seems consistent. Readership can be fickle. Growing as an author also means acknowledging readership will fluctuate at a varied level according seasons and emerging trends. That's why I track my ratios frequently, so I can try to trend the fluctuation as much as possible.

Right now, I'm getting interest due to the LGBT writing prompt. Once that prompt dies, my guess the interest will drop off. My stories will hit a silent time again, which I will use to revise posts, work on new content and promotions.

The silent periods are the times to revise or stockpile new posts; high interest is the time to go for broke with pestering promotions. Use each stage to boost or better your story when they occur.

I published my novel on 19th March 2019 and currently, there are 6 chapters.
Today (26th March 2019), my collection to view ratio is-
                1:215

                Is it any good?

Veronica8 I really liked your idea of maintaining an active and a dormant period between writing. Thanks for the info!

Veronica8 Opposite for me~ I wonder though whether I prefer getting more reads (could be fake views) or more collections.

Although people do add books and don’t read right away, I think collections still signify more “real” reads rather than just passerbys. Technically, 50 chapters should equal 50 views.

Collections haven’t changed much for MWTL, but at least it’s no longer above the 1000 ratio. :) I was thinking I might receive more drops, but luckily not.

As for the contest piece, I was delighted for a very short while with a ratio in the double digits 😱
But now it’s grown to be even worse than MWTL hahaha! Although still few, I’m strangely gaining more with MWTL than the contest piece. Maybe people saw the contest piece, but it wasn’t their cup of tea and MWTL was? Or maybe they migrated over lol.

EDIT: Wrong math, I’m thinking I have 10k views! It’s not worse after all. So stupid of me duh

Chryiss I wonder though whether I prefer getting more reads (could be fake views) or more collections.

My assumptions since I've been tracking my stats.
                    Views is:

                    • Casually reading in one go without intention of adding to collection.
                    • Was redirected to the story via another area (e.g Twitter), don't need to be member to read just bookmark link and read on.
                    • Checking at the book page in passing.
                    • An aggregator site poaching to pirate and pass the story freely to others on their links.

                    Collection add:

                    • Genuine WN reader intending to read. Hasn't yet, but the interest is there.
                    • WN reader loyally reads story from library (best reason).

Either are solid read interest whether it's known or not.

Chryiss XD lol. I thought the BL would be a dead giveaway. I guess I tend to have other things going on in the stories.

                    6 days later

Today's batch. Lots of growth. I haven't been doing much. The free paperback for Zaldizko doesn't seem to be enticing  I'm thinking, if a person's P-Stone total is higher than mine, I'll post them a Zaldizko branded 8GB USB stick.

                    Zaldizko {BL} Ratio 333:1 ↑24

                    To My Sunflower {BL} 440:1 ↑60

                    To Like A Man {BL} 308:1 ↑32

Veronica8 Really nice continous growth each time you post!

My ratios have increased since last time, but it might be a crossover effect with the contest submission story. However, the reader country composition is quite different.

The sad thing is I suspect the tree story will soon surpass MWTL in collections. XD It already has a twice as good ratio. So much for better quality => better story => more readers lol.

Chryiss So much for better quality => better story => more readers lol.

Clearly we're talking about a different story sharing site :smile_cat:

Veronica8 Oh I’m just talking about my two books and how one is thoughtfully planned out while the other isn’t and on the spot. XD

Chryiss I was being cheeky 😜 Sometimes stories told out of the head can work out just as well. That's why it pays to never put off a story.

Veronica8 Thanks. Idk what’s an indication of a good ratio for views/collections but just glad that I have some readers lol.
