Hello, since this is a fairly long and active conversation, can I ask when a novel can be considered famous?

Chryiss It was fun whilst it lasted. I declined the contract for reasons that it wouldn't end up a right fit for my story. I'm very happy that they were willing to take it on. That means there is hope for an audience here. I'll continue to slog it out on my own means for the time being.

Anyway. The taste of stardom was good while it lasted. Back to reality. Today's stats.

Woah! This just in. :confetti_ball: TO MY SUNFLOWER WON THE WATTPAD WRITER'S CIRCLE AWARD :confetti_ball: Holy crap! This is the first time I've ever won anything with my writing. This one had a lot of hefty players in the Historical Fiction category too. Even though it's a community award, this one took 3 months of elimination.

This week Zaldizko go a contract here. Seems my lucky stars are aligned this week. That's it! I'm buying a lottery ticket!

      An update!

When will WN finally release the results?? TwT I wanna see how badly I did lol

On the other hand! I finally started posting chapters for IEIWE

      IEIWE- 29:1

Still a good ratio. Hurmhurm very pleased :D

Veronica8 Interesting. I would be curious how it would work out since you self-published. But you’re right about the McDonald’s swindle (I cracked up how you said this XD). Yes, keep at it, this is a nice boost of confidence and motivation to continue!

Chryiss in short, it wouldn't. The contract is for the product brand not just the book. Shame.

I might see if they'd like the CEO one, since that's just one single brand I don't mind signing to them. Especially since it was conceived on this site. I'll wait until I finish the story.

Now this is where everything really starts to go downhill(compared to before, at least. My skin isn't thick enough to say that my ratio is bad)

        IEIWE- 47:1

Recently I got into giving really lengthy reviews. It's fun.

Veronica8 Hmm. It's strange that I have a high number of collection adds (almost double to my daily average view rate), yet little power stone gains if any.

Then again. I noticed that 90% of Boys Love (LGBT in general for the matter) have this pattern. There is a lot of high views and comments, but little to zero power stone gains. I think the most I saw on one story was just under 100 power stones. So, I can deduce that people who read BL/LGBT just read and nothing else. It also confirms that LGBT and BL stories have a long way to go to be a mainstream sub-cat of the Romance genre at this site. Actually, in mainstream digital book and social story sharing sites in general.

              Veronica8

Well, a good part of it is because in general LGBT stories are made/tailored for those people.

For example, I looked at your novel Dragoneth, I feel like the hook of the novel gay incest, which many people find morally wrong.

While, I do not have an issue with consented incest, I would not read your story because you made it a plot point rather than something in the novel.

It was not the story of two brothers who did blah blah, which is why I would pass right away.

Veronica8 It May be because collects is anonymous and stones are not—not everyone is comfortable being open in their interest or support

I read and write BL and other genres — but I have no idea what ratio are exclusive and if it is more than romance, harem, beast taming etc

Acutelittletrap but I didn't write any incest though. The brother that is gay is in a relationship with a non related man. The other brother is straight. They're about to go and rescue his girlfriend.

Also I see your point about perception. Although I don't know how you drew the conclusion of incest from my blurb or even my cover. My blurb doesn't even mention on incest or love between the brothers. My cover is dragons. I classified the story BL because there is a main romance between two men that is a focal point. Since there is 3 x MC.

So I'm really baffled where you saw the incest plot point.

                    Today's batch.

Now I'm starting to drop a couple of collections, but still increasing daily so that's good. I desperately want to join the BTS contest even though mid-year exams is coming soon...

                      IEIWE- 61:1

I don't have a lot of PS/comments though. Do people just add my novel and forget about it?

I'm so glad that people on WebNovel are more inclined to comment (plus that xp motivation helps) since I'm pretty sure my heart would die if there were absolutely no comments on my works.

Anyway, I'm only going to list the books I've actually been working on.

Peerless Doctor: The Rise of a Phoenix
                        78.9k/468 (169:1) [hey, stop getting higher!! >:(]
                        8 Powerstones

                        Pretty Eyes, Delicate Smile
                        812/20 (41:1)
                        4 Powerstones

chonnie Chonnie, stop worry about views. The more chapters you release the higher this goes and I think it's an irrelevant number. The only figure I am interested in the collection - as long as that number increases daily I am happy.

Chryiss Ah, I guess you're right. I am one of those quiet readers too
And thank you! It's gonna go over 100 in about 1-2 weeks though, as the views increase due to the increasing amount of chapters.

For my oldest novella, 17,000 reads to 3 collection. Compared to newest book (BIANCA: The ChatBot That Never Was), 26,000 reads to 1 collection.

My own guess is because my newest is a lot more ... libertine ... in its approach. It's a dystopia still, just of a much nearer future.

The interesting bit to me is more the demographics.

Ah that's why! I was imagining something way darker about why my demographics are what they are.

DJRogue thank you for the reminder!! i guess i've just been obsessing over numbers lately. i'll be trying to step back and just focus on telling my story. thank you again!

SarahWeaver6 Yeah I wonder about demographics too. At first my tree and world story had different demographics, but now they’re sorta similar, possibly from reader crossover.

Speaking of which, the collections have been fluctuating and sometimes they tie. Still waiting for the day that the tree overtakes the world one, but I guess the latter is trying to stay on top. Just when I think that the tree will jump ahead in the tie, it doesn’t. Poor baby world is struggling haha! XD

                                  Veronica8
Sorry, I used your book as an example poorly.

However, because you asked, the novel listed two men in the introduction of a [BL] novel.
So, because you added [BL] in the title and as your first tag, it gave me that impression.

From what you're describing, BL is a side plot rather than the main plot, but that is not how it came off when {I} saw it.

I did not add that I only read the Synopsis. However, my post was more about why LGBT is not mainstream rather than your book itself.

Chryiss Yea in my case, because I write about Neo-Colonialism, I was worried people were drawn to my work because of their shared French / Spanish colonial heritage.

Turns out it was something totally innocuous: Apparently Philippines really like Manga actually.

Without going into specifics, even though I consider myself a Francophile, in this context of colonialism I have more of an emotional connection to the colonized.

I'm a bit of a paradox that way.

                                    Today's ratings are:

                                    Condemning the Heavens - 38k views, 208 collections: 183:1 (55 chapters)
                                    Blue Phoenix - 34k views, 108 collections: 315:1 (78 chapters)
                                    Overthrowing Fate - 15k views, 74 collections: 203:1 (43 chapters)

Chryiss Wattpad used to have shady genre awards pages that would just die without explanation. One of my books was once listed on a Literary group before the group died.

I'm still not sure if the Literary pick was just a fluke, or if there is something to it.

But going to pursue Cyborgs And Paladins regardless.
