Book Cover FAQ
Hi! I'm a new writer here and have published a novel. 'The Duke's Familiar is A Witch'. But for the life of me, I can't upload the cover. I pressed the 'confirm' button but nothing happens. I've checked and reread this thread so many times I've lost count. I've switched browsers, desktops and even cleared cookies and cached over the past two days but nothing has worked. Any suggestions? ><

yaoyueyi Hmm, I'll try and wait. But the thing is, I've also tried a few weeks ago before I published my novel but gave up. I have a feeling it just won't work for me. sighs
If you are having troubles uploading a cover makes sure its exactly 600x800, smaller doesnt work it has to be exact.
If sizing isn't the problem then change devices, from the sounds of things your upload issue is on the PC end of the system, so try uploading from a tablet or cellphone. While it sounds stupid, WN is extremely finicky about how it wants to work and sadly the PC end of things is vastly under supported compared to the app.
Okay since no one else has told you guess I get the happy job of telling you that getting paid is not an automatic thing here. You have to apply for or be offered, a contract. Short of that be a patre0n whore.
seraphione Try another browser. I found that I can't upload covers on Edge, but it works fine on Chrome and Firefox :)

Darth_Xiane My image followed all upload rules...I tried it from my phone and laptop.
Tinalynge Hmm, I did try from the original internet browser. I'll get Chrome and try from there.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll try it out and see how it goes.
EDIT: So...it worked. On Chrome. I tried Firefox, Edge, Internet and didn't work. But it instantly worked on Chrome. Thank you everyone! I feel like I just overcame a large hurdle...survived a battle...was reborn from the apocal…...never mind. :p

mac_zen23 Stop asking these non-cover related questions here. This is a thread about book covers, not coins. Off topic posts are violating forum guidelines, so please go elsewhere to ask your questions. (for example, there's a pinned thread explaining everything about coins, fast passes, and points, and your question has also been asked a thousand times on other threads. It will take you less time to find an answer yourself than to ask and wait for a response from someone else.)

Creative Common's image source.
If you need an image that is licence free for commercial/non-commercial use, you can search for one in the Creative Commons database. https://search.creativecommons.org/
This way, you're searching for images that have granted a legal permission to either allow modifications/adaptions/rendering and/or for commercial use without having to pay for royalties. Also, most of these are available for free to download. Some might pay a flat fee to the artist as a compensation.
It's also best to consider font usage and licensing. A lot of Microsoft fonts are not licence for poster work, so it's best to be sure of the font that you'll use for your titles.
To be on the safe side, it's best to use Public Domain licensed fonts or pay for some. Below are a couple of sites that have Public Domain licensed fonts for poster works and other projects. Of course, not for resell.

The cover gives the first impression of the book. Therefore, the cover should be well thought out.
