Tales of Reincarnated Lord, a quality kingdom building novel base on old England. It contains harem but it has little to no effect on the story.
Long chapters, good story, no harem
Well some game related stuff with no real romance or not real relevance of it for me are:
Emperor of Solo Play (finished)
Seoul Station's Necromancer (finished)
Overgeared (still releasing)
Thos 3 are korean and I enjoyed them quite a lot.
Cultivation Chat Group
Good comedy
If you don't mind being unable to finish the story because it's discontinued:
Survive World RPG (Western + Post-Apoc + Cultivation + Game Elements)
The story-telling is quite good, the chapters are of decent length, and there is enough of the story to be quite satisfying.
I would also like to bump the previous recommendation of Night Ranger. It's basically Dungeons and Dragons with a slightly Chinese theme to it. The level progression, the power scale, and the abilities basically all tie in with the Dungeons and Dragons settings and systems. Which means that there is a very stable progression system that keeps the plot armor from rearing it's ugly head unless the story absolutely demands it (I've only seen one real example of said plot armor).
Extra info only related to Night Ranger:
D&D numbers to think about: In stats 10 is the base human number for almost every stat. 10 is an average adult male, neither good or bad, just average. 18 is the pinnacle of humans (think Olympic contenders). 25 is basically a demi-god level stat, lift that car, dodge bullets, that kinda stuff. 50 is a god-like stat, like Ares comes around and blows your house down with a punch. There are cases where the stats can go higher depending on the God in question, but generally, any stat that breaks into the 50+ zone is treated as a Godly territory in terms of power. Mind you getting the stats to go above 25 is a damn near impossible feat to begin with.
In terms of Levels, The average human (i.s. farmers, bakers, civil servants) usually never progress pass level 4~7 depending on their age, race, and ambition. A Human that reaches level 10 can already be considered as very powerful in terms of individual strength. A human that reaches level 20 is already at the pinnacle of being a human. Beyond that, you reach the status of being a Legend. Beyond level 20 you are already able to create minor miracles with your actions. At 25+ you are already starting to tap into the other planes of existence with your mere presence. At level 40+ there is almost no way that you have not been in contact with the divine and abyssal planes of existence and had some sort of influence over one or the other, if not both. At level 50+ You probably ascended into God-hood back somewhere around the early 40s in level and just stuck around to dick people and other gods over.
Thus ends a very short lecture on superficial D&D numbers that can help tell a story.
Eclipse hunter, Legend of sun knight, 1/2 prince @princerrevolution site
