Notice: Currently, the review queue is CLOSED. Assessments are still ONGOING, however.

Hello,

As an avid reader, lover of organization, and empathizer of struggling writers, I decided to create a website to help as many writers and readers as possible.

The idea is simple.

I assess new novels from writing websites like Webnovel (which I'm starting with first) and give a score that allow writers to see their strengths and weaknesses. Story synopsizes and reviews will also be posted in order to better direct interested readers and give critical feedback to writers.

For more information on the assessment system and mission: https://virtualbookshelf.home.blog/about/

Disclaimer: This is by no means a paid or advertised service or website. It's completely free as is the website hosting service I'm using (WordPress). But I'm trying to be as professional as possible.

While these writing websites are great for aspiring authors, I feel like undiscovered and underrated novels are very common.

Thus, I would greatly appreciate it if readers/writers like you posted novels you think are hidden gems! Simply post the link of the Webnovel story on this thread.

For stories being reviewed, please take note that I will be bluntly honest and detailed. If you cannot take constructive criticism (I will not be harsh of course), then don't ask/be surprised.

Thank you, and I hope this will be successful! Let me know your thoughts on this idea! :)

    Thank you, lol~

Haha, good one! Tax returns can be done free online now though! I just did it myself some short time ago, and it was very easy and stress free actually. I used the IRS partnership with turbotax. Very pleasantly surprised! Of course, I suppose it's not for everyone~

    Okay, you are queued.

I recommend giving authors an opportunity to be reviewed once again if they request it after they accumulate chapters since people can improve. But nice system that reminds me of how English class went....lol. >3</

Thank you for putting in the time and efforts doing this!
I almost put my story here, before reading the site and saw that contracted stories are not included.
      Oh well!

      Have a nice day, regardless!

        Will do!

Please note, that unless “review” is specifically mentioned, I won’t for the sake of time going through all the existing novels.
Hmm, that makes me realize... I probably should limit careful review to sections of max 10 chapters or 20,000 words lol.
Maybe in the morning I’ll decide depending on how many people want reviews.

Writers can do that in fact! It isn’t mentioned on the About page, so I should put it there now, but in my Webnovel comments to authors who scored 5+, I wrote that after three new chapters are posted, they can request a new assessment. :)

Actually, in the bolded words I didn’t specify that it had to be the poster’s own written stories, only that a writer could ask for a review in addition to the standard assessment if they wanted. So, recommend away! :)

You’re welcome, I quite enjoy it!
Yes, for now anyway. But feel free to include any new stories of yours or others as well!

Book_Keeper Thank you a review would be much appreciated. I really want some feedback on how to further my writing

All ten stories have been either or both been assessed and reviewed.
For the sake of space, full reviews will be posted on Virtual Bookshelf. Excerpts will be posted on the Webnovel itself.

Assessments can be found on the website under Webnovel Assessments 10: https://virtualbookshelf.home.blog/2019/02/02/webnovel-assessments-10/
Those with reviews will have a link on their title in the above post.

Important Note: There is a big difference between a webnovel--a story of the internet and mobile world--and a published book. Besides straightforward editing, published stories are constantly polished to be more engaging, meaningful, and clear. So a successful webnovel doesn’t equate to the same caliber of a published novel. This is due in part to an online writer typically being a one man/woman show. Thus, reviews will be given as if regarding whether this could be a published print or e-book.

Due to the time it took for 7 reviews today, I'll be putting any further review requests on a queue for when I have more time. I want to first amass a good library of assessed novels.

Hahaha, thanks for the review! Appreciate the effort.

I like how the various criteria were separated.

You have a discord? I think your website has potential , wanna ask you some stuff =D

Personally, I'm actually trying to make the reader level low because my target audience is low. I realize this by checking the readability level at a website.

So I use easy to understand words while still keeping a variety of synonyms to make the writing a bit more colorful. It's not for everyone though. >3</
