On an unrelated note: How do you stand out on these prompt entries? Or just in general? As a long time reader and relatively newbie writer on here I find it difficult/tiring to click through and read through all the entries,. Especially if there's so many pages of them full of only 1-2 chapters.

    CCmei In prompt entries, of course you need powerstones. Meaning you sort of need connections. To be honest, some creates millions of dump accounts for it while some promotes a lot. Of course I'm talking about now. Last year, it was easier. Promoting in the forums and a lot would read your novel but it isn't as easy right now. Meaning not joining a contest when creating a nocel might be harder than when you join one. I started writing since November last year and kept failing because I was too lazy to research and I was rather active before so I know how things work.

      CCmei I'm also new here. I started writing a story last month for the contest in Mobile Legends. But then I get disappointed and ended my story with only volume 1. And now I entered this contest. It's actually hard and I do not have a connection. I think you need support coming from your friends, promote your story to other social media website. Like that. Try to hook up your readers... And more promotions. It's actually tiring to promote but I think sooner other people will notice you and then support you.

          mysterious_being hahahha i think the connections they're talking about is your connections with other authors (i think). I've seen stories supported by other co-authors (the like). Most especially famous authors. (i think that's that?) hahahaha. If you know famous authors or those who're not, they'll surely support you (that's how i see things here... so far...)

              I finished 10 chaps of mine, successfully crossing 10k words. Woohoo!

                Also, can I request some honest opinions from you guys? As you would know what kind of content is preferred on WN. Just tell me whatever you think about my novel. Time is really important to me, as I am still a student and I need to study a lot (like 4-5hrs a day except 8 hrs of school) so please tell me if I'm not wasting my time on this.                           mysterious_being Imma jump on this question; even though, I wasn’t mentioned. 😂

                          Unfortunately, WN has clear favorites on what kind of content it likes and usually ends up as popular. Those are 1) romance, notably CEO, revenge, transmirgration or reincarnation ones; 2) wuxia/xianxia cultivation; 3) monsters/hunters capturing/taming/battling; 4) video games with OP MC and RSSG-like dynamics or virtual reality qualities; 5) anything R-18 which may or may not have harem and mixed genres/types of the previously 1-4 mentioned, and 6) fan fiction of popular stories/movies/shows etc. that likley includes 1-5 genres/types mentioned.

                          As for your story, to be honest, it reminds me of many stories that I’ve seen that’s written well enough for WN standards and does something different, but because of how the site is set up, aka poor exposure of new authors and hidden gems that are unique to the mainstream stuff, it takes a long time for such stories like yours to get traction. And especially since you’re new to the site, it’s even harder to get noticed. In short, what I’m trying to say is that no matter how good of a story and writer someone is, they may no get the possibly warranted exposure and popularity.

                          So waste of time? That’s debatable. If you love writing and find it enjoyable, I say just continue without an expectation of something more. Over time, you might even get to that success or popularity. Daily updates, or just frequent ones, regardless of story quality, is also very popular on WN too. So if you keep at it, who knows? There have been stories that don’t fall into the 1-6 mentioned or have daily updates and still get notable success. Grinding for reviews definitely helps along with reading and commenting on other stories to get your name out there. Good luck! (:

                              Chryiss yep she is right @mysterious_being if you really like to write, then do your thing. Continue your passion. It may seem like you are wasting your time, having small views, sometimes no comments (the likes). But you know persistence is good. Someday people will notice your work. Just continue and trust in your guts.
