If the privilege is purchased, let’s say the 50chapters ahead, does that mean I do not get anymore new chapters til a month later?
Also, does privilege mean that readers of translated novels do not get mass releases for novels anymore, so only original contracted novels get mass releases every TGIF?
man oh man..... i only seem to keep coming back here whenever something happens.... its usually something that sparks some serious debates... at this point im just here to learn how many different ways that QI will use to milk money off this site... heck im not even here to read anymore, its becoming something to learn from at this point

Why webnovel simply implements a system that the author or translator has the ability to put their novels blocked but must meet certain requirements. Obviously author/translator will get 50% of the profit.
This system can have various option:
1) Continue with the current system using spirit stones to read chapters; (if you want to buy SS when you don't have it)
2) The other would be to use the current system of privileges to read advanced chapters but not with the current price they are offering; (but most guaranty that every month translator/author will have stockpiled. I don't like this system but there are crazy readers that like to read ahead)
3) The other system would be elite paying a monthly to read for a whole month or even year;
4) The other option would be that webnovel sell to users the book in paper but by volume.(I mean like those in Amason)
We know that some novels here have more than 1000+ chapters(translate novel) and are divided into volumes.
Why not divide the stories into books and sell them with covers at a comfortable price. Of course, all these systems must guarantee the quality of the service; as the quality of the novel.
The author and translator can benefit with those option I think...
I listed those systems but to be integrated with one whole system and you choose the option you want.

Piokilek Well... actually you did defend it. Even saying as a professional author that your readers would gladly pay for this privilege besides the gifts you recieve and the price of your normal chapters. So I ask you. As a contracted author to webnovel. Would you withhold 50+ chapters instead of releasing them for your readers in order to stockpile enough chapters to participate in the privilege system if given the opportunity? Of given that opportunity would it not interfere in your release rate or bonus chapters? As an author contracted to webnovel do you believe is really a privilege to the readers to pay 10x the value of a normal chapter to know the title and have the possibility to unlock a chapter? Are you defending this system because you think it is not a scam or because as a contracted author you hope one day get to this system and have the opportunity to earn the equivalent of 10x the actual price of your novel chapters since as a author and not a translator part of that would go to you?
CKtalon does this point #4 mean if i am currently on ch 50 and the novel has already released 1006ch out of which premium starts at 150. And previlage shows 50 stockpiled ch max and 5 minimum. So if i choose the one with minimum and then unlock 1 ch then the ch from 150 to 1006 will also be unlocked freely as they were a part of regularly scheduled chapters?
krustynobb with that much ss, u shouldn't pay again to unlock. i guess it's better to wait. this idea was kinda great but turned stupid after seeing this.
And now regular daily chapter for Supreme Uprising is still behind privilege.
People seems to be forgetting the price of these books. Word shaking novels and book cost way less than a loti of shit that it is sold on this app.
but even if it is the best, i don't uderstand why should i pay hunderds of bucks for a single book, even if wonderful when there are other wonderful books that i can read and are not related to qidian.
And BTW....to me, these system are literally a daylight theft, so don't start talking about pirate sites.

Snapplemonkey Some/all of the authors/translators might not even get notified before Webnovel implemented the idea. Maybe they pocketed ALL the differences!
redcats Some of the authors/translators stockpile chapters and release them regularly just in case they have an emergency and can't write/translate. Webnovel didn't notified them at all (at least some of them) and just released the stockpiled chapters for a premium. Webnovel not only breaks the trust of the reader (or whatever's left of it before this idiocy), but also the writer/translator's.
CKtalon it's not the problem of paying more to read before others. It's that the readers that want to read before others have to pay twice: the hyperinflated chapter price, then the regular chapter price, i.e. pays 250 ss for 5 advanced chapters, then another 8-10 ss (usual price) for each chapter before you can read the contents at all. In total you'll have to pay 58-60 ss/ advanced chapter instead of the promised 50 ss/ advanced chapter (even this price is already mind-boggling.). No wonder people are mad, this is a Fraud!
Dudu_the_3rd Yeah it got my hopes up when i saw 800 chapters in Daily life of Immortal King but seeing it really struck a nerve, like a stain on the screen that I can't wipe off... I really want it to be gone

is there a way to hide privilege hidden chapters from appearing as "unread" on my app. I only want to be aware of chapters I'm actually able to read, not stuff locked behind a privilege wall...

One can see Webnovel's quality from the new novels they chose to introduce into the platform. More often than not, it's Crap. The platform is swamped with them by the title-full. Some stories I tested were so bad that I wonder how they got the rating as well as the recommendation. The standard is so low that your story would have to be such an utter crap to be below 4 stars and not in the recommendation tab.
I'd trust WuxiaWorld way, way above Webnovel if I'm in the mood for some good reads. Way easier to find quality stories and translations. Wuxia is like a diamond mine, you can find the one you like if you try. Their editors and translators actually vetted the stories. Webnovel, on the other hand, is like scouring through a garbage pile. Maybe you'll find some promising scraps, but the rest were worse than crap.
I don't get this "privilege" crap about 25 or 50 chapters in advance but I read enough to get that it is basically:
1. you pay bulk SS to unlock the LIST of LOCKED chapters
2. you pay MORE SS to unlocked those chapters in those list
in basic understanding, the current so-called "Privilege" system is akin to you coming into a restaurant and having to PAY just to BE GIVEN THE MENU. THAT'S a problem.
Honestly, I don't care about that. I'm not interested in advance chapters, daily release is where I got my fun. My PROBLEM however is when even daily chapter got LOCKED behind that "privilege", THAT'S a problem. That's a fcked up system that SERIOUSLY undermined the readers.
I get that you want to pay the translators (despite the fact that MOST -not all-of the novels' Raw in this place are free to read at the original source), I'm fine with that, they did the work. This however, is NOT how it should be done. Hefty monthly subscription to read any novel and chapters in the server? That's a deal. Paying a few for each chapter release? I can live with that. Paying bulk to unlock multiple chapters in advance to read? Sure. Paying Hefty amount JUST to open the LIST of chapters to read? That's scam and a crime that can be judged by law of most country with internet fair use regulation.
I'm suggesting this to be fixed, otherwise this website WILL be facing multiple lawsuit from the readers who lived in those countries.
Piokilek Look, I don't have problem with paying in bulk to READ advanced chapters but it comes with the provision that when I pay it in bulk, I want those chapters UNLOCKED and READY TO READ. Spending close to 200 USD only to be GIVEN THE MENU is NOT my idea of a worthy spending.
Imagine you going to restaurant whose food are $10 - 20 at most but you have to pay a whooping $100 just TO BE GIVEN THE MENU. I'm pretty sure, you'll just walk out of the restaurant, never to return and most likely even REPORT them law enforement for fraud. yet THAT is EXACTLY what happens here and the "YOU" in that example are the READERS.
Its double pay for temporary advantage and you still need to unlock the locked chapters. Corporation exploitation at its finest :(
