I just opened webnovel and saw this notification. I just wanna ask, which author? Which novel? Is there any way to check this?
Your review has been removed by the author
SauceMaster64 oh, that sucks. Have you checked your inbox? I really hope a moderator would pick this discussion up.
This happened to me too! I wanted to see what book and the author but it did not indicate it. This is the only app that I know that could delete a review.
meaniesing how sad. As it is, there are few legit reviews compared to trash or spam, only for xps. How can we even have a true picture then, of a novel that's worth our time and ss? Speaking of which, I rarely go by power votes and ratings. Except for a few, most of my books are ranked 20 or lower. Popularity does not necessarily indicate quality.

SauceMaster64 GhostyZ for one. When I got the message I looked through my last couple reviews and the one for his was gone. Left another warning of deleted reviews and it was gone 20 minutes later. Left a third and it was gone 20 minutes later. So the alert is accurate but unfortunately, it'll be impossible to tell which novel is being trimmed. Am I the only one who feels like an author shouldn't have the ability to delete reviews to his own story? It makes it too easy to sweep issues under the rug and misrepresents the story.
Daoist_dan There's something to be said for letting authors remove reviews, though.
Some people leave 1-star reviews with zero chapters read, while freely admitting that they haven't given the story a try. That sort of thing is not only unhelpful to readers but can also tank a new novel's rating before it gets a chance to gain traction.
Critical reviews are a different matter, of course. If a reader doesn't like a novel and leaves an honest review explaining why, it provides value to other readers.

TomVanDyke I don't agree. It's a solution but ideally, it isn't something that an author should ever be allowed to do. The actual solution to fake reviews is all in the programming imo. The reason this happens in the first place is the site allows for it. If you look at royalroad you'll see they were smart about it and prevent everyone from reviewing until they've read a chapter. And then if the people running the site would actually enforce user reports the profiles that still post nonsense would be punished or blocked. The way I see it even if they don't want to hire more people to run the report side of things the programming should be a basic step to take.
So no, not even to help out unfairly punished authors would I support letting the writers delete reviews. This shouldn't have happened. Webnovel shouldn't have encouraged people to review with rewards either.

You also have to remember that a decent number of these accounts review with 5 stars instead of 1
Daoist_dan yes, yes, yes! I agree 200%!
Daoist_dan I had an issue with another author doing the same thing. Here is a link to the post: https://forum.webnovel.com/d/25834-why-are-authors-and-translators-allowed-to-artificially-boosting-their-ratings
ealdgyth I checked everywhere, but no trace remains of my apparently deleted review. I don't know whether the review that was deleted was one of my recent ones or not, and most likely, I won't ever be able to tell. Anyway, I got over the fact that my review got deleted already, I just want to know which novel it was on.
Spelloyal Don't necro threads, and as to your response in the other thread, I don't delete reviews even if they rate me 1 star or 0.5 or demand that I delete my story.
But that doesn't give people the right to insult, flame and abuse other people, and then whine about having their verbal abuse getting deleted. Words have power, and they can hurt people too. If people actually take the time to consider their words instead of flinging them out to insult the other party, the world will be a better place.
