unexpectedname0 Do they? I heard from someone that all of the translators were told to take down their patreons by Qidian as part of their contracts. It was just some guy on the forums, so that could be wrong. Also, what you said doesn't really negate anything I said about the current pay model being exploitative.

ImperfectInfinity all the translators on qidian quit from patreon? But when? Few months ago i was a patreon of library of heaven path for example. I mean yeah is excessive but I think is the same system they have on the Chinese page they are just copying it, maybe some things need to change I mean we are not Chinese ppl, someone few comments above write that some premium chapters are already hosted on different pages so they need to rethink the premium model imo.
unexpectedname0 I will be honest when I say that I am not sure about the patreon thing. I just read it on one of the threads a couple of weeks ago. Someone said it was in the translators/editors contracts, but I have no evidence to back that up. I was more framing the statement as a question, sorry for the confusion.

GregLuck yes you can keep reading the released free chapters, in the end you could eventually finish the novel from reading those free chapters. the problem is you'll be far left behind (after a while) by premium users (those who use ss to unlock the premium chapters) because premium chapters are a lot more compare to free chapters. this is why some readers complaint.
some said that it is some kind of bait, to make readers buy ss (because they don't like to be left behind, can't wait too long, or fear they would become a grampa/ma when they finish the novel xD).

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL I tried buying coin in Chinese qidian and donating my favorite author which is not here. Had to pay almost 40% more than Chinese ppl coz of fee, FML lol

But it's a good thing to use coin instead of flat money, coz i think i bought 6000 coin with 10$ and 1 chapter was like 10 coin, it's a pain to write 0.001666667 $ as the price for a chapter lol

Estriole Well they do need to fix/tweak the sudden increase of price to 5x.. maybe do it stage by stage but even then there will still be alot of people complaining. And for me this model is balance, 7chapter/ week is the normal speed for most novels out there minus the AAA tittle(which it self have petreon paying their salary nearly 10k usd monthly ) and even petreon lets say ED which is translated by BOA petreon can get 4 chapter unedited ahead for $10. For the same price i can buy 500ss and unlock a months worth of RTW chapter and with the current promotion its basicly 3 months worth of chapter. For me i belive that a novel i like and the translator/editor that is working on them should be tip/pay for their effort and since CK and Meh basicly confirm that 35% goes to translator 35% goes to editor 15% goes to original author and the rest to QI i dont see why this is bad. Most are a free user i admit that and most of them are teenagers or young adult its hard to fork out money especially if u and i quote "follow 22 series in QI".There is still free chapter daily not like its not there anymore its just that ppl that are willing to pay can be ahead of free user which is admitedly fair since they work for the money and the free user basicly just need to wait to catch up. If you feel its not fair or its going to be 3 years of wait then u can always do some chores or part time to earn extra cash support your hobbies,hobbies cost money even hobbies which include touching your self which cost klenex money or lube money LOL(no oain no gain even the MC in your novels work hard to get something).Novel are not a privilage but a hobby its a hobby for me after a day of hardwork and before going to bed. There is a saying beggars cant be picky and patient is virtue, so for free users quit moaning and yelping yes its hard but this is real life other ppl need to make money to survive and this business model is helping them and helping the company to make an insentive to hire more author to create more novels and translator to translate those said novel.

ImperfectInfinity there is no longer patreon chapters and they have advice not to be patreon but IF u just like the translator and feel that they should get the love their deserve or u have eztra money that month and want to give them a tip its there but its only PURELY to sponsor the owner of the Patreon and not the author QI or editors. Basicly u give them money just cause u like them
Honestly, with how we're getting about at least 16+ ss every day now (that's not adding the upcoming video ads ss), being still updated to one novel is still manageable. You probably need to pay bunch of ss at first but then you probably can net positive for the next day.
You can probably kinda exploit it by making several account for each premium book you want to read and logged in everyday
