I have 972 SS so I don't really care if u have to pay or not to keep reading the novels, have enough to read the ones I like daily and maybe others that will come, btw I got a message yesterday that I unlock a badge but I can't see the message on notifications but it pop-up when I enter the application is a bug or something?

so, if i have to "pay" 14 stones for chapter today and it will become "free" tomorrow? or it will work in some other way? cause i get less than 14 stones for login reward... is there than point for free users to pay for premium chapters if u cant unlock them faster than release rate of free chapters? (not sure if some1 esle asked this too much to read)

So it finally happens. I was actually surprised that Qidian was capable of restraining themselves for so long. Still. I'm a little sad that some novels that are most likely the better ones out there will become completely out of reach in the long term.. It's quite hard to believe Qidian will stop here. Quite soon there will be different levels of premium where the best novels would require quite a hefty sum to be paid. I'm a freaking student, I don't have that kind of money, so I guess reading is going to disappear from my favorite activities.
Tbh, system seems fair. I heard that there will potentially be a way to watch ads to earn stones in the future so that might balance things out.
I only read a couple novels. Is there a way to just get all of the chapters for those novels, without spirit stones? Like a subscription to novels?

From what I understand, you are still able to read the novels, just not be able to be entirely caught up with all of the chapters.

Well now I'm just going to give my stones to novels I don't like so they can become premium. I can't afford to buy stones just to read the novels that I enjoy if they end up all going premium. I can't support my favorite novels anymore. Really sad.
I support you, Qidian. I will stop reading the premium titles and stop voting for them. It is time to read the other unwalled novels.
How excatly do you become a Premium user? I don't see the option anywhere
I would rather just have a annual payment like Crunchyroll- if Crunchyroll can do anime with ads and w/o ads on premium which costs $$$$$$$$$$$$$ to make and syndicate - I would think Q could be able to do their pay wall on a reasonable basis

I see a lot of angry people. But you have to realize that authors, translators, editors and other are a job. They need to earn their share and it's business. Asking someone to provide something you enjoy without giving back remuneration is illogical.
I just hope that QI can implement monthly subscription in different package.
Example
package A 5 novel of your choice
package B 10 novel and such.
Or monthly on each novel depending on readers choice. Instead of one subscription for all that will be hella expensive and redundant coz most people don't read all the novels.

LittleHuge most people do understand that author/translator/QI deserve some profit... it just this new system stone cost is unreasonable... it increase from 4 stone prior the system to 18 chapter (the highest i've seen)... mean sudden 4.5times cost increase... if only they introduce this system with original 4 stone price first saying it BETA price... then slowly raise the stone price until find the right balance... most people might support this new system...
This system also have major flaw... the newest locked chapter of RTW (premium novel)... already hosted in some pirate site... they buy stones and unlock those 10 advance chapter... host it in their site... got ad revenue and profit... this will eventually lead to QI lost lots of "real reader"... free reader is of course... and most small spender and some medium spender will also leave to pirate site... since they have 10 chapter advantage without reader need to pay at all... this will left QI with small community of medium and big spender... and pirates also... 
... this will hurt translator and QI in long run...
Hope QI reevaluate the stone price to unlock chapter... my suggestion... for now... cap it at max 9 stones/chapter... people will be repulsive when they see 2 digits stone number... then reevaluate again later... of course since lots of reader already angry... QI could sooth the mass with 4 stone original price for certain period of time...
This is only suggestion... hoping that translator did not get negative effect from this new system...

HJC The first explanation regarding to the chapters that going to be read by both user has no problem... but I would like to qoute *how is free user that don't pay anything should be at the same level as premium member?Now i would like to answer this in my own view point when it comes to limitation and possibilities.. It depends on the readers perspective why he/she comes to read novels or lets says their perspective when it comes to catching up the stories... you want to enjoy your time then just read the novel in the other hand you want to be on the same level with those who are more ahead than you then you must take your money from your pocket and pay to be a premium user.. it depends on you.. no force. or anything that pressure you to buy their chapters.. If you have the chance to buy the whole novel then, buy some novel on available stores.
Estriole well i guess you should count the days of the chapter to be released... cause that is how chapter is being released for free users. guess they must add some notification that says that this chapter will be release after a day a go somehow.

Rokuman_24 agree that free user and premium user should differ... but if QI charge too much and not reasonable when increasing the price (4 stones before new system to 18 stones now mean 4.5 times stone increase)... people might run to those pirate site... FYI... release the witch latest unlocked chapter already hosted in some of pirate sites... this mean they buy stones and unlock the chapter... host it for ad revenue profit... if the price is not reasonable for low and medium spender reader... they might follow free reader to go to pirate sites... since they host 10 locked chapter for free... this is bad for translator and Qi in long term... you will lose free reader, most of low spender reader, some medium spender reader from community and left with big spender and pirates...
Basically i agree with new system... but alter the stone cost for now... think of it as BETA price... and evaluate it as the system go... you can raise it slowly until it reach balance between reader, QI, translator...
Like everyone else very against change that impedes my reading addiction but I do want to support so at the very least give the unrestricted ability to watch ads for 1-3 stones a piece and I'll spend a good 30 minutes plus with only mild complaints watching ads for stones for premium chapters.
Estriole it seems that the administration looks for the small hole when it come to pricing strategies, but let see how they will respond to the reaction the the user's, cost mostly of the readers here are just a free readers.. we do not know. this would not be the last updates that they are going to the future, but going to the piracy itself is a big disadvantage for big companies who produce original copies.
Before I rant, let me make it clear that I believe there is no such thing as a free lunch. Webnovel has been offering free spirit stones, chapters, etc. to build a following so that they could later make money off us. Fair enough. Businesses exist to make money; if you thought Webnovel was altruistically giving you stories to read and expecting nothing in return then you have too much trust. My issue with this situation is that the premium model uses nonrefundable, virtual currency usable solely on one website. There are two problems to this:
One, spirit stones are basically monopoly money that costs real money. You are less likely to think about how much you are actually spending when what you are spending doesn't actually look like money. It is the same reason casinos use chips instead of cash and video games with micro-transactions have their own virtual currency. And if you ever want to back out of spending money on the spirit stones, you can't get your money back. They could theoretically just connect a bank account or credit card to your Webnovel account, but that would make people watch real money go away with each transaction, which they would be less willing to do.
The second issue ties to the first. Has anyone read the forums where people reveal personal information like age? A large portion of users are teens, who may not know how to be financially responsible yet. You can argue this however you want, but it is a fact that the human brain does not finish developing its prefrontal cortex (the decision making part of the brain) until the age of about 25. You can be addicted to anything: drugs, alcohol, food, video games, gambling, and yes even reading. This is why companies always gear advertising to younger audiences to try gain brand loyalty early on.
You can say that the premium model is not that expensive, or that any reasonable person won't lose a ton of money on it, but it could prey on a specific group of people rather viciously. Mobile game marketers have called these people 'whales.' Rather than the model in place, I would be interested in seeing a subscription service at a flat rate where you get to read ahead for every book. That would be a less predatory means to monetize in my opinion.
