It is most definitely going to turn into a redemption fic in the end. Even if 70% of the fic is an Evil MC if that last 30% is him 'redeeming' himself and becoming 'human' again then it is time wasted. I've seen great fics being destroyed in just one chapter, don't doubt that it'll happen in some 2 year journey of reflection.

To be honest I don't care if mc tries to appeal to his wife etc if it doesn't compromise his overall ambition. As long as the mc isn't being submissive and understands what he is doing, small amounts of compromise in the relationship are understandable.
