Hi, just recently i've noticed a high CPU usage on the site when reading a novel.
One of my cores on my laptop is pegged to 100% pointing to FireFoxCP Web Content.
The inspector / performance indicator is littered with "recalculate style" for some reason.
(Wasn't before).
I assume / hope there is no CoinHive miner running in the background?
High CPU usage while reading novel.
Are you sure you didn't confuse this forum with Volare or Wuxiaworld's?

Wally4u Ok i did some testing;
When not reading a novel, firefox takes 0.6% of my cpu.
When reading a single chapter, firefox takes 4% of my cpu.
When consecutively scrolled 10 chapters, firefox takes 6% of my cpu.
When consecutively scrolled 20 chapters, firefox takes 8% of my cpu.
When consecutively scrolled 40 chapters, firefox takes 9% of my cpu.

The only site open is webnovel.com. Using Firefox 58.0.1 Ghostery/Adblock disabled.
Looks like I'm not the only one:
Wally4u Hmm the front page is using constant %4 cpu. Actually all the pages on the site uses %4. Maybe it has something to do with high image density? Since if i'm not directly looking at the page, it uses no cpu. Even if it's open in another tab the pages don't use any cpu for me. Only when i'm looking at the page does it use cpu.

According to Safari profiling (tried another browser to be sure) osd.js is firing timers like mad.
Another one is raven.62118.js.
Kind of wondering why a page withe text needs sooo much cpu time (even 4%?)
BTW: The page i'm opening is https://www.webnovel.com/book/7143532406000605/22693016544267506/I-have-a-Mansion-in-the-Post-apocalyptic-World/Taking-Over-the-Fallout-Shelter
But seems to this for all pages (after the ads)
We don't care more about the CPU performance before. I just download the newest chrome(version 64) with a real-time CPU monitor. I will check the CPU performance and reply here if I get the result. Thanks for your feedback.
And there is never a coin miner javascript running in the background :)
Maybe you have auto run software
Ebu8b dude, careful posting some links of other sites, It may ban for this
Just reminding you
Wally4u My system is behaving same without any issues, are you sure @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL is the cause of it?
N0xiety My CPU usage is not exceeding 2%(It goes up and down... 2% is maximum with all the tabs and extensions running) with all the aforementioned stuff and I have opened 7tabs at the moment, and all of them related to Webnovel.com and webnovel.forum!! I am using Chrome
Well. .im using the app. .if cpu usage% is high, then, battery % drop will increase. .
Well, is still the same (for me) . .
GoGo Well, yes @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL is the "cause" since thats the only website that is open.
Further investigation:
High CPU is only when tab is front. its significantly less when in background.
CPU impact is Firefox > Safari > Chrome.
There is a difference when I enable "Tracking protection" in firefox. Is is trying to keep loading blocked elements?
MacOS (OSX) is more sensitive than windows 10 for some reason. MacOS is my macbook pro vs Win10 Desktop.
I use the site through a mobile browser on my tablet. I tend to preload pages at home because I read on the train where there isn't much connection. Every time I interact with the screen, the site tells me I'm offline. This used to only happen on the final loaded chapter, but now it's happening on all of them. I'm guessing this change might be related to the high CPU usage.
It may be trying to keep track of your progress for your library better or there may be something inefficient with the infinite scroll. Of course ads are always suspect.
I'd love to know what it is so I'm not out of battery when I'm returning home. Otherwise, there's always reading material on less energy consuming sites.
Has anyone tried a MacBook Pro (10.13.2) with Firefox?
Same here... High CPU usage on my part.
What kind of CPU do you have. I cant get past 1% on my laptop
