I'm just curious, how do authors promote their novels? Or how do the readers find them?
How do you promote your novel?
_escapist Here in the forums or on any social media platform. Doing review swaps or posting about your story on your social media.
I'm not sure how else to do it.
Hopes this helps!
Just write and do it well. Sooner or later there will be readers who want to check new stuff. And most of those readers prefer novels that are longer then 1-4 chapter.
Yuyumamoru Thank you so much!!
_escapist Reality is more prosaic. There are several worthwhile novels, really cool, but only 1 or 2 reviews. Because few people know about the novel. If you write a novel, then they will watch, maybe there will even be a couple of subscribers. But with a high degree of probability, none of them will comment on you, much less write reviews. Unless, your romance will not cause sharply negative emotions or super positive. And so ... if you yourself will not promote your novel, then no one will know about it, you can go to the minimum rating, and this requires 10 reviews.
So far, only the SWAP Review is on the forum, as it hopes for the gratitude of the authors to whom you left the review that they will come to you and leave their own, very small. Even with the SWAP Review, out of 10 authors, only 6 people leave. And 4 having received your review, they say that your work is not worth their attention, it is difficult to read ... and some simply ignore the fact that you wrote a review to them. Of the 6 people, quite likely there will be someone who puts you not 4 stars but 3 or even 2. One or two of the remaining 5 are hoping who will leave you an honest review, give sensible advice on how to fix, change the text.
So it's your choice to write a worthwhile work and wait for your reader and reviewer, not doing self-promotion or go for an unsportsmanlike act, but write the swap review yourself.
Somehow so far.
_escapist here in the forums... spam your novel links... <3 i know i do. cheers!
Immovable087 There is no sense in spam, it is deleted, and more than 10 reviews are not needed to enter the rating. More is needed only to enhance Sense of Self-Greatness! Be simpler, be happy and don’t worry, and everything is normal with you. Nerves are all diseases.

I don't. I would rather people not know about my story because if they do, I'll receive a flood of 1-star reviews, insults, flames and hatred from readers calling my characters stupid or mentally retarded, labeling my story trash and complaining about what an awful writer I am. For the same reason, I also prefer not to receive any reviews since the majority of reviews exist to tell me that I have no talent and strongly advise me to give up, stop writing, delete my story and leave the site before I humiliate myself further. Or to insult me, my story or my characters.
Promotion and attention can be a double-edged sword. Be careful you don't get burned when going out to seek as many readers as possible. I personally will never promote my story and prefer to keep a low profile because I've been flamed too many times. I would rather write for that 1 or 2 person who likes my stuff than get 50 readers who come in hollering at me about what an idiot I am, how my protagonist is an absolute moron, how my story is complete garbage, and then drop the story after the first few chapters anyway, which will just bring me back down to 1 or 2 readers.
In fact, sometimes I think I should just delete my story because so many people hate it, and just provide a google document to the 1 or 2 readers who are the only ones in the entire site who like it.
Tomoyuki Russians say - do not go to the forest to be afraid of wolves. Of course, drawing attention to your novel is a certain risk, but if you, as an author, are sure of either a beautiful story, good spelling or content of the novel, then you can go into the forest, where there are wolves, but probably tigers.
We say Dog barks, the caravan goes.
If you yourself as an author are not sure of your story, then you need to choose the option that is more convenient for you, to attract selected readers.
In any case, if the reader begins to call you as the author or your text shit, then with a high degree of probability, in front of you is a schoolboy who does not yet know what life is. Maximalist. But as he encounters reality, his crap in his head will slowly go out, he will understand that in order to live in society, you need to keep the mittens (mouth) shut. This is not a restriction on freedom of speech, it’s just common sense, the ethics of everyday life was invented so that civilization would not collapse, because people would start to slaughter others because of differences in views.
Believe in yourself, in your readers, send all detractors to the forest and write your work.
Gourmet_DAO Yeah, well, I can say for sure that my story is not beautiful, my spelling is atrocious, and the content of my story is terrible, so I will not be venturing into any forest at all. Spent too much time in the forest during the military, it's full of bugs and not as romantic and picturesque as most people idealize it to be.
Perhaps you are right. If I, as an author, am not sure of my story, then I need to choose the option to delete it. Because I have no desire of attracting readers, to be honest.
Gourmet_DAO Forest of wolves and tigers, a barking dog and an exempted caravan. Now this reminds me of a certain (cunning) merchant who was so brave, he braced through the path of the mountains of robbers and came out unscathed
-Attractive synopsis
-Attractive image
-Select the correct tags
-Publish at least one chapter daily
-Make Cliffhanger
-Write a Fanfic with which you will create your fan community that may read your original.
Asking for reviews or readers in the forum is not very effective, it will give you 5-star reviews or a few readers, but true wild readers can get annoyed when they find your original book full of praise and any review that don't represent them if they don't share the same opinion as your other reviews.
Hey this is my novel plz check,

Cantiara Everything is possible. But if you are afraid of blasphemy, then you should not write on the Internet. And they were merchants and more cunning. They bought a "letter" - tamga from the emir of all the robbers for six months and calmly moved around the lands occupied by robbers.
Tomoyuki I agree, many people idealize the forest or mountains. I spent a lot of time on expeditions in the mountains. It’s not so cool and romantic. Life is hard, electricity gives 3-4 hours. Stoked with wood. Snakes, fleas, bugs. You knock down your legs in bloody corn from an unaccustomed first 10 days.
Just if you have a unique story, as you wrote before, you need to make access for adequate readers.
If you write, then you are improving yourself. Do not belittle your work.
Gourmet_DAO Oh, I like my own work. The vast majority of people hate it, though. Quite a lot of them have called for me to delete it because I'm lowering the standards of the site with my awful writing, and they want me gone because I am an embarassment to all Webnovel writers.
Tomoyuki It seems to me that this is simply not fair competition on their part. But what genre do you have?
Gourmet_DAO Fantasy, I think?
Tomoyuki It’s easier to scold, it’s more difficult to criticize, you need to know the basics of literature, but writing a novel yourself is very difficult. Therefore, if you like your work, you have at least 5-10 readers who read you, then write on. And haters at times can be simply hounded by someone, can be an element of unfair competition. Since an ordinary person, if he does not like it, he will say it once and will not return to it anymore. And if someone comes back again and again, then this is not the typical behavior of a normal person. So there is some kind of self-interest. They want to leave you, break you, make you do what you do not want. Therefore, you can either leave, or you can continue to write, you can write to the moderation service and ask them not to show comments with haters.
