I am new writer here and I have seen many novels had their chapters locked, after some chapters they would lock the next one.

How do you lock them? I tried to search it on inkstone but instead I found nothing. Could you please help me and tell me how to do that??

Prachishukla04 Usually, the staff would contact you if your story looks promising and high in the power ranking chart and also, with a lot of collections. Or you can contact them by filling in the form but it would take a long time for them to get back at you.

Because I got a reply the very next day when I filled the form. So it's not necessaryessary that it has to take a time of you fill the form first.

I don't have form with me right now, but i guess someone else can give you the form.

The key things that determine getting a contract are-

Attention your novel receives (view count and collection count)
Consistency of updates
Overall word count
Quality of writing

Having a great score in one of these will offset a weaker score in another of these categories.

Zero2567 Hello, I don't know how to reach you, so I will just use this post to reply to you. I was offered a contract not too long ago and I am still unsure whether to sign it or not. This is mainly because I don't want to lock my chapters and only want to have the gift function. I looked around and not many people discuss this, so I want to ask you when I saw you're a contracted author but don't know how to lock your chapters. If I become a contracted author, will I be able to leave my chapters unlocked or will there be a time where my chapters will be locked regardless? Because from what I read from other people, they say that Webnovel has full authority and rights over our novel. Sorry for bothering you. Much appreciate it if you can answer my question. ohremi19 Hi, I am a contracted webnovel author and I can say that the choice to lock your books is up to you. Take my book "Eternal Melody" for example. It has been contracted for over a year but has no locked chapters because I want to keep it free and only the gift function. Of course the decision is up to you. If you want your book to "earn." naturally you will have to lock your chapters to gain any money. Gifts don't earn much. I hope this helps.
