What they change are the rewards for daily task; by voting they are replace with Fast Pass instead of coins. Daily rewards now rewards one Fast Pass and the bonus +5 XP. Fast pass are able to unlock one free non-privileged chapters on novels/comics. Reading rewards are replace to Points instead of coins; These can be seen under Profile>Store>My points. Hope this helps. If any of the information is incorrect go ahead and correct me.

kwagz store page on profile. You can buy discount vouchers that last 3 to 7 days. Cheapest discount voucher is 4000 points, most expensive is like 20k+

In short webnovel is now a mobile game, only in this game the boring daily grind that would at least let you play some more eventually was removed for a giant sign of 'Give us all the moneys'

kwagz Points are used to redeem vouchers in the store. You can check by going to Profile>Store, you then will see a list of vouchers. The cheapest ( If you can call it that) and most useful one is 3-day Site-wide Free for Novels/Ebooks/comics which is 10k total points.

It's actually 4000 points right now for the cheapest voucher. You can get 60 points per week so if I am not too retarded that means you have to read for about 1 year and 3 months before you can afford that 30% discount for 3 days. Kind of underwhelming if you ask me.

Benis Yes the cheapest discount Voucher. Saying for the one that is most useful is the 3-day Site-wide give you a full 3 days without using coins or Fast pass.

          Benis

You're not supposed to just rely on the reading rewards to amass points for exchange.
They expect free readers to also combine it with farming and watch lots and lots and LOTS of ads, which if you ask me, is justifiable. They give free readers the benefit of free reading, so these free readers also have to help them generate revenues from ads in return. If they don't want to do that, then either wait for a year and 3 months to amass those points, or there's always the option to buy coins.

Even can't do proper check in... Not a single coin get from last two days... Always showing network issue.... Facing the network issue only in check in... Other than all going properly... It means they don't want we can do check in and get coins..

The_Cheese As I understood it chapters will be locked again after the three days are up. Kind of pointless in my opinion to buy something you can only use for a limited time. What if you want to go back and read it again for some reason? Would you be fine paying again for something you have already bought once? I at least would like to see more variety in the store and I think the new fast passes would fit right in there. You get less chapters but at least it's permanent.

Cantiara I've been here for nearly two years now and I was only ever aware of the points system with this recent update, and nowhere has I ever read anything about farming. Maybe if WN learned how to communicate their features better so we didn't have to rely on word of mouth for everything they would have less upset free users on their hands. I agree that watching ads for content is fair, but why is it that I have to visit their forums first, something I usually avoid because I'm here to read novels not other peoples retarded opinions (not yours, just peoples in general), to learn that it is even a possibility.

Benis Yea gets locked when the vouchers expires. Really sad, All those chapters you have read are now locked until you buy it with coins; which permanently unlocks it.

stefanus101 Also, something the others forgot to mention is that you have to be using the app version on your phone to be able to see points or access the store. Or perhaps I'm wrong and this is just another one of those instances were you just has to be in the know to be able to use it.

Benis You are correct, you need the app to view your points, as on the website it says "Dowload App To Read". so you can not get points on the website. It has to be on the app.

                  Benis

Oh, I agree with you there. 100%.

@WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL , Imma keep tagging you, whenever someone complains to ME about your inadequate communication to your users. Here's another one. Again, forget the ranting free readers, but readers like Benis have to come to the forums to understand about your new points system. And a lot of people still don't understand the difference between points, coins and EXP, and again: Give @The_Cheese some rewards for patiently explaining stuff to your users! He deserves it!

Aight, it's Christmas Eve here, Merry Christmas, y'all! Peace out! ✌

Cantiara the thing is .. not all novels has this farming.. and sometimes after reading the novels with farm or gold pouch..the advert did not pop up.. so..there is no coins collected

Cantiara It's not like free readers were not watching adds before.... The difference is that befoe I could keep up with the two novels I read one webnovel, 4 chapters per day, now I can't. And don't get me started on how with every update the site gets more scummy. The only time webnovel did something consumer friendly was with the subscription model. Buying ss or coins is not worth it all and that's coming from someone who spend like 200€ on that shit. Don't even get me started on "privilege".... I know an just ranting randomly and out of subject but.. I want to support webnovel and read the novels here.. but it's just too damn expensive...

                      azarina2805

Nope, indeed. Only a few of the free novels and fanfics have it. But from what I've heard, you don't even need to read the novel. Just click through the pages until you get the ads and watch the ads. Oh, make sure you have set the farming mode on in your settings, and I also heard it only works with page-turning and not page-scrolling.

Immortal_Thunder The thing is, the ads didn't generate enough revenues for WN. WN is a host partner of Google's AdSense. How it works is basically, advertisers pay Google to run ads on the Adsense network, then WN applied to become a part of that network, and later once they've become a part of Google Adsense network, they get an ad code from Google and place it on their site/app. Then Google pays WN when those ads appear on their site/app. How they are paid is based on per click and per action. Per Click is the most common type, WN gets paid every time we, readers, click and view the ads they're showing on their site/app. But this doesn't really generate a significant amount of money. The other type, Per Action, is the one that produces more money. WN gets paid when we actually perform an action after viewing those videos, like downloading those games advertised in the multiplier videos, etc., because the action provides a direct benefit to the advertiser. But not many people do that, if any at all. Well, I, at least, never did that. Before this update, the daily rewards that you get from watching an ad was like what? 5 SS? The revenue that WN generated from users clicking and viewing the ads (without any follow-up actions) was around 0.25-0.5 SS each. So, as you can see, there were no gains from letting users watch ads and giving out 5 SS per ads.

About the subscription system, I wasn't around when it was introduced. But from what I understood, on the one hand, it was actually very profitable for WN because a lot of users had subscribed to the service, but on the other hand, it was not sustainable for the authors. With pay per chapter system, the coins that the users pay to read a novel are split between WN and the author of that novel only (I'm talking about net revenue here). Whereas with the subscription system, they had to split the income with all the other (contracted) authors on the platform. So for example, if novel A is popular, and a lot of readers subscribe to the subscription service because they want to read novel A, B, and C, but don't care about novels D, E, F, the authors of novel A, B, and C actually have to split the revenue from the subscription service with the authors of D, E, and F. They didn't think that's fair, and hence, WN decided to stop that system.

But aren't they introducing the membership system with this new version? Not sure how it works exactly because it's exclusive for people living in Canada right now, but maybe it's like a hybrid between the subscription and the pay per chapter systems. We'll see.

Having said that, I do understand your frustration. I'm just trying to explain the other side of the coin (no pun intended ;) ). Of course, in the end, it's really your own choice whether or not you want to support this business. If one day I think this service is too expensive for me to afford, I too will pull out the plug. :)

                      Sorry for the long post.
