All hail the goose. May havoc reign supreme.

I'm back to chugging Jasmine tea at the office.

Hello tea thread. I had milk tea with dates today. The dates make it so sweet that you don’t need sugar. I have erred by making it with milk, but that’s just my constitution. It’s supposed to be made with milk. Why won’t my body accept dairy. ;-;

I understand for as I get older- the Lactose making part of my body just went kaploootzs. As it does everyone to some extent.

If I consume a bit a day it's fine but if I go turkey and then decide to have a big old latte/milk tea with my snack biscuits then suffering. Maybe a few hours later but suffering. This is my retribution for making fun of my lactose-intolerant friends for years.

    Dates are good. Love dates.

ARe we still alive here? It is I, the usual half-assed author for fun and tea junkie.

Instead of a needle just gimmie a straw for dat boba love.

So one thing I miss during this shelter in place (AHAHAHAHAH I STILL WORK AHAHAHAHA) one thing I really miss are cafes.

It's grab and go right now- for good reason (pls stay home and safe- pls don't make healthcare worker's jobs harder). But as a tea addict it's not just the drinks I'm in love with. There's something special about tea/coffee shops. There's something about the decor and the vibe that's not possible to find elsewhere. You can do work at home or in a library but there's this special atmosphere found in tea/cafes.

I'm also sad about a lot of libraries being closed.

There's this amazingly beautiful library an afternoon drive where I live. Huntington Library and Gardens.
To be honest, I was just so desensitized to it. I had this 'locals' attitude where it's overpriced and that people only came to take pictures (ok I still believe that- but that's not the library's fault). My cousin is such a fan/nerd of that place that she had the yearly membership and I would sometimes accompany her.

And it was just an entirely different experience to sit in that tea house or in the gardens with your drink with a book to get get some studying/work done. That Rose garden tea room was always booked bc it was such a date/luncheon place. THe 'high tea' is very LA- prettier than what you get XD (so I only had it once)

But now that it's....not open- I actually miss it. I miss sitting by those fountains, the statues, the bamboo forests, the green house, or in the (non-booked)cafes patio doing my work and occasionally giggling at a cheesey tourist/couple doing photos. I know this isn't exactly tea- though you could order tea. It's where people came from all over the world to enjoy tea and the atmosphere. So even if it was booked with tourists and couples, now that it's gone- I feel that it was lovely and something missable.

CCmei That sounds lovely~ I wish I lived close enough to a cafe or library like that... but alas. uwu hope the situation calms down soon so you get to enjoy some good ol tea~ (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و

Today’s tea is lemon and ginger, for my upset stomach. My tea stock is depleting, and the mint I ordered during a grocery run never came... oh well. Not like I can just go out and get some more in these trying times. Gotta make do with whatever I have left. Which is still a lot, to be honest. Lucky for me nobody else in the family drinks as much tea eheh

I really don't get how can you drink a sour and tasteless tea? maybe my experience or the resources in the neighborhood i live in doesn't offer what you call tea or its just me and my tastebuds.

I rather drink some steamy hot coffee with a little bit of cocoa and milk.

This morning I got up a whole extra 2 hours early (obviously its the end of the world) meaning I had time to actually brew a nice cuppa tea before work ( and then back to the office to drown myself in earl grey and caffeine )

Today's tea is turmeric tea. Which is a blend of spicey spices, yummy yum, primarily turmeric since it's so vibrant and distinctive. Using Tumeric in anything colors it a vibrant shade of yellow, even if the ground powder may look shades of pale to orange. Use milk for that 'latte' richness- also you really should sweeten this with SOMETHING. It's just odd drinking spices and milk. I like honey

Cafe talks: The first time CC had a Tumeric Latte.
Twas a cold day in Belgium. Why the hell was I in Belgium? Oh god did that actually happen? WTF
Anyways twas a cold January morning in Belgium many a years ago. I had just arrived off one of the earliest trains and then the tram to Ghent. A gorgeous city steeped in history and medieval relics/architecture (as well as some pretty sick fashion shopping). Now as awesome as it would have been to just TOURIST NERD TIME- nothing was open, esp the churches/castles, it was just too early. But that's the perfect time for breakfast.

I led my small group to one of those local organic 'farm to table' communal places I searched up the night before. Very 'fashionable' in the rustic minimalism sort of place. Where the bread, butter and jams came easy and honestly tasted better than anything I could get back home. Hot damn what do they put in their bread? Crack cocaine?

On the menu was something I never seen before- for this was years back and 'Tumeric' lattes had not blown up yet where I'm from. As always- I was the only one brave/dumb enough to keep spontaneously trying new stuff I pass by.
Hot damn it was a terrifying shade of yellow curry in one of those huge artsy thick handmade pottery cups- oh but it was so good. So rich and good and now in the back of my mind when I try drinking turmeric lattes- a piece of me remembers some of God's best bread and Belgium winter mornings.

Sollkiri I know some teas can be sour, like citrus tea or citron tea or kombucha if you’re into it, but this is the first time I’ve heard that tea is tasteless. What kind of tea have you been drinking? I’d recommend pu’er if you want some strong and easily accessible tea. Jasmine green tea if you want something light and sweet. I hope you can enjoy tea as much as you enjoy coffee~ owo

CCmei that sounds wonderful. I’ve never had tea with spices before, since I’m bad with spice (and spicy things). Ginger’s my limit. The bread sounds heavenly~ And now I’m craving soft fluffy white bread... french toast. With a steaming cup of english breakfast on the side. A croissant... _(´ཀ`」 ∠)

            Today's tea is Crysanthemum

IDK why my dad is making so much of this tea lately? Does he need to relaxation from being cooped in at home all day? XD

Meh I'll take/mooch bc I need it after work _*

Ran out of lemons so I used orange instead to make lemon orange and ginger tea. Didn’t taste quite right. Maybe I should’ve just do away with the ginger and made citrus tea. Or do away with the orange and made ginger tea. Either/or.

Edit: half a cup later, it’s growing on me. Not my new fav though.

Edit Edit: i thought it was familiar... the tea tastes like how the dishwasher soap I have at home smells. Um.

Today was office burnt coffee, fixed with caramel protein milk- wait the hell that's not a tea jsdfjawlkfslfkvsn

Ok, so today's tea is actually an iced barely tea. Very refreshing BUT, it's not just any mugicha....it's roasted black soybean flavor barely tea!!! Fancy yes.

My favorite barely tea is actually from my old workplace Lupicia, apple flavor.
