Can someone explain to me what's the difference between the old system before and the system Webnovel uses now?

From what I could get from reading is:

Old System: Balance was more inclined toward the viewers. Authors weren't paid much for their writing and we're only getting a small (very small) income with getting a contract.

New System: The Balance is a little wonky as Webnovel tries to fix things for both author and viewer enjoyment. They are trying to restrict a few things on the reader's side so that author can get more money out of their books. They are also trying to develop so that even though they are restricting a few things, we'll still be able to enjoy benefits.

Not sure if there's exactly an old system and a new system, though. Webnovel's always making new features, so whatever difference there is is developed over time, not exactly a sudden split all at once. The contract should still be pretty much the same (correct me if I'm wrong, I only signed a contract way back in 2019 so dunno if they have a new contract) but they are also working with EMP to offer a non-exclusive contract to authors, which has its pros and cons as well.
